    Ann Marie,

2 questions on your “Wish List”…why would you get a Kitchen Aid (so small!) when you could get a Bosch?!!!!! Also, for your grain mill, you definitely want a Nutrimill!! I’ve rambled quite a bit about them both on my site. :)

I saw Kitchen Aid mixers on closeout at Mervyn’s the other day. They were a great deal but I already have one. I have never used the Bosch but everyone I know who cooks professionally has a Kitchen Aid.

P.S. If you are serious about purchasing a stove, talk to me first. I have used almost all the high end brands of stoves in client’s homes and know a fair bit about them.

    Julie –

The Kitchen Aids at Mervyn’s — were they the professional Kitchen Aid or the Artisan?

A pastry chef friend of mine said the best mixer is the Hobart. But they are a bit pricey. You could get one used — perhaps one day I will upgrade.

I am serious. Which stove do you recommend?

I have owned both the Bosch and KitchenAid. The Bosch is great if you are going to be making more than 2 loaves of bread at a time. It has a more powerful motor than the KA, but IMO, you only need that much power for bread. It can easily handle a 4-loaf batch of bread.

I don’t make a lot of bread and the column in the middle of the Bosch bowl always bugged me. It was a pain to, not only scrape down the sides of the bowl, but the middle column, as well. Not pleasant when you’re trying to make cheesecake or cookies. So I sold it and bought a professional KitchenAid. I love it. I wanted the pro because I wanted a decent amount of power. The only downside I can see is that it can only handle a 2-loaf batch of my bread, but like I said, I have a small family so I don’t make a lot of bread. I make cookies, biscuits, pie crust, whip cream, egg whites, fudge (making that tonight), and more in the KA.

I will say that last year for Christmas I got the grain mill attachment and I don’t really love it. It does the job, but it is slow compared to other mills and extremely loud (sounds like a jet), and it only fits about 3 cups of grain in the hopper. I have a few friends that have the Nutrimill and they rave about it.

    HTH!

I’m just wondering if you know that, according to nonais.org, Obama supports NAIS.

No I had not heard that. That is disappointing. However, all these politicians just go with what their advisors and lobbyists tell them. Time to get out there and lobby for what we the citizens want!

It is a hard decision. I would like to make more loaves of bread. And Kelly swears by her Bosch.

I’ll have to research it more!

OH, I just did this a week or so ago :)

I agree, I’m very much looking forward to the Obama Administration. And I would totally go for a Kitchen Aide mixer. I’ve heard the same pro/cons and since I don’t make a lot of bread…………I’d pick a KA mixer any day.

This is a sill question, but what is a “meme”?
