Real Food Wednesdays

Welcome to Real Food Wednesday!

I posted the following entry: Healthy Nachos with Homemade Tortilla Chips. Organic, GMO-free corn chips made from scratch, loaded with healthy pastured meat, beans and organic grass-fed cheese. Seth loved these nachos so much he blurted out, “How can these be healthy? They’re too good!”

In the recipe above, I teach you how to make tortilla chips from your homemade corn tortillas. To make corn tortillas from scratch, follow these recipes:

Homemade Corn Tortillas – Part One: How to Soak Corn for Masa
Homemade Corn Tortillas – Part Two: How to Make the Masa
Homemade Corn Tortillas – Part Three: How to Make Tortillas

Hi, my post a wonderful chicken salad recipe my husband came up with last week. It is now one of my favorite salads. It involves making a chicken salad mix, adding to greens, and many other goodies. I think everyone will really like it!

    Hello Cheeseslave!

I decided to post my latest blog post on Sur La Table, a national specialty kitchen & food retailer, that is experimenting with ways to get more people cooking at home using fresh, health and real foods.

For example, the Scottsdale, AZ is partnering with a CSA farm and its customers to help people get the most out of their bounty.

    Enjoy!

OK so I blew it in entry #12 and put my name instead of the name of the recipe. It should be “Hot Beef Chili” and it uses great REAL FOOD ingredients like high fat grass finished beef and REAL butter. My wife (who actually came up with this recipe and whose picture you see when you click on the link) has become quite the REAL FOOD chef! For you chili lovers out there, enjoy!!!

Hi! Well, my post today is a little different, but I think it fits. We have dairy goats now and since they produce OUR food, we think it is important to find out what real food THEY should eat. So I did a little research and found a source that shares the traditional diet of goats.

I have pickling lime on my shopping list for today so I can make your corn tortillas! I can’t wait~ the nachos look awesome!

It must be a Southwestern Food kind of day. We had quesadillas with organic cheese, grassfed beef and sprouted corn tortillas. They were delicious, though I decided my rhubarb cake dessert was more blog-worthy today.

I can’t believe I still haven’t made those tortillas yet! What is wrong with me? I wanted to tell you we got our olive oil (from Chaffin) a few weeks ago….Hmmm.. can you quit blogging about it so they don’t ever run out??? Ha ha!! This stuff is like liquid gold. I can taste their farm in it..they must grow oranges there or something- it is the most delicious stuff I have ever had. The only thing I can say that I don’t like is that the gallons come in a plastic jug. Any ideas on where to get some colored glass jugs to transfer it into? I guess I could buy some cheap wine and dump it…. would that affect the taste?

    Hi all–

So glad to know Sur la Table is getting behind local foods. I have spent a fortune at that store since becoming a local foodie!

Can’t wait to try the onion soup recipe, I wonder how you ferment garlic?? Sounds intriguing.

I submitted my friend, Andrea’s recipe for a rustic apple tart made with a spelt crust. Enjoy!
