Real Food Wednesday: June 3, 2009

Welcome to Real Food Wednesday!
I posted about a great new book about how to lose weight eating real foods like butter and bacon, called The Liberation Diet by Kevin Brown and Annette Presley. Even if you are not trying to lose weight, this book is a must read. I loved all the history about how industrial foods were introduced into our food supply — and why real food didn’t have the money or lobbyists to fight back.
Kelly the Kitchen Kop also posted about weight loss this week (great minds!). Read Kelly’s post, What Makes Us Fat and Why No One Seems To Care. And don’t forget — Kelly is hosting Real Food Wednesday next week!

My post today is Agriculture Society’s Hot Issue Wednesday: Your Toxic Load – How Does it Affect Your Health. It’s a book review of Randall Fitzgerald’s The Hundred Year Lie: How to Protect Yourself from the Chemicals that are Destroying Your Health and commentary on how many chemicals are in our food supply, personal care products, household items, and much more. Thanks Ann Marie!

Hey AnnMarie, I didn’t realize Mr. Linky autofilled the URL with my page for last week’s RFW, can you please delete my first link (5.)…it says mac & cheese but then goes to teriyaki-like chicken, could be a huge disappointment for some!
Thanks for this great, fun, resource filled carnival, thanks for hosting.

The post I submitted today is one of my favorite posts I’ve written, about why I ignore nutrition facts, preferring to read ingredient labels. It’s not the post shown at the end of this comment (that’s a tasty, healthy, orzo recipe), but you can check that one out too!

Today’s post is how to make “grain free buns” using coconut and flax as a base. The herb combination makes a great cheese and tomato sandwich. This is a great bread substitute for anyone who is struggling with candida yeast or can’t tolerate wheat and other grains.

I had liver for breakfast, liver for lunch, cod liver oil as a supplement. Whether my taste buds like it or not, my poor body needs to heal and as we know Liver is the number one superfood. I learned that when Kevin Brown came and spoke at our Weston A. Price Chapter meeting last month
