I read somewhere that a lot of dog food isn't good for dogs because they are made from meat deemed inedible for humans and stuff like that. I heard that feeding your dog real food like chicken and apples and veggies and oatmeal and stuff like that is better for the health of your dog.

There are really great diabetic books. And since diabetic diets are very similiar to low carb or gluten free diets there are many to choose from. Try the Betty Crocker Diabetes book or the Mr. Food's Quick and Easy diabetic cooking book.
