My First Podcast Show: Rami Nagel on How to Cure Tooth Decay
I’m thrilled to announce my very first CHEESESLAVE podcast. I’ll be doing a weekly (and sometimes twice a week) series of one-hour interviews with an array of authors, farmers, and artisanal food producers.
I love listening to podcasts when I’m cooking or running errands — it’s a great way to learn and keep your mind engaged while you’re doing other things. And I had so many fascinating and amazing discussions with people I met at the Weston A. Price Foundation conference last fall, I decided I really wanted to share these conversations with all of you.
The podcast will be broadcast every Tuesday around noon Pacific time (although this first one is at 10 am), and I will do additional episodes on Thursday when the need or desire arises (in other words, we’ll see how it goes).
Rami Nagel on Curing Tooth Decay
The first show is coming up this Tuesday, January 26 at 10 am PST (that’s 1 pm EST). I’ll be talking with Rami Nagel, author of two books: Cure Tooth Decay and Healing Our Children. We’ll talk about how Rami reversed tooth decay in his own children, and went on to research and write a book about how anyone can reverse cavities and prevent painful and expensive dental surgery and orthodontia in children.
And yeah! It involves eating more butter.
(Of course you knew it would.)
How to Listen
Mark your calendars and bookmark this page to listen to the podcast. You can listen live or you can hear the recorded podcast at a later date. You will also be able to download the recorded podcast to your computer and play it on any mp3 player. It’s easy to subscribe to the podcast on iTunes — just click the iTunes button.
Ask Questions
Since this is my very first podcast, I am going to play it safe and not take any live callers (I’m afraid of technical difficulties; I promise I will get brave and take callers on my upcoming shows).
That said, Rami is still going to be able to answer your questions! Please post your questions for Rami in the comments below. You can also post your questions to my Facebook fan page or send them to me on Twitter.

What a great idea, Ann Marie, good luck,
can’t wait to see who is on the list.
If you ever need an interview for a podcast with a raw butter eater living in France (2 hours away from the original valley in Switzerland Weston A. Price visited) amongst cows and alpine valleys, gimme a call!

Congratulations, Ann Marie. You will love interviewing and learn a lot. Thanks for sharing it with us. I’ll look forward to it. Do you know anyone we could interview about oil pulling to reverse gum disease?

Thanks for all you do and all the best with podcasting. I would like to know if either of his books addresses actually undoing a cavity that has already begun to form. Also, last time I tried to talk with my dentist about cavity theories he was very vague and did not give any helpful advice. What sort of dentist should we see and for what reasons? Has he done any research on homemade, traditional toothpaste? I would be interested in purchasing a copy of Mr. Nagel’s book but I would like to know more about what sort of specific advice he covers.

So this is the Rami you mentioned in the Real Food Twitter chat. Can’t wait to hear what he has to say. Can you ask if there is a remedy for dental fluorosis? Thanks, AnnMarie!

Hi there!
I love your blog! Good to meet a fellow raw cheese lover! I am having a hard time finding raw goats milk in Los Angeles. Do you have a source?
I use raw milk kefir, raw goat and cow’s cheese, and raw colostrum and cream from Organic Pastures (the milks are, not the cheeses). I would love to try making some raw goat kefir and cheeses.
Thanks!

Cathy, why not try Bruce Fife? Didn’t he just come out with a book about oil pulling with coconut oil?
I own both of Rami’s books. It is very worthwhile to have them both. He does address how to stop a cvity once it has started. He also has a homeade tooth powder in his book. I have been consulting with Rami over the last month to help with my daughter’s cavities.
I am awaiting an order of pascalite clay in the mail. It is full of minerals. I am going to try brushing her teeth 1X per day with it, pack her cavities with it, and let her ingest it as well. Also just started her on spirulina today.
It is a looooong journey. Ann Marie, get Rami to talk about grains and nuts. Specifically phytates, soaking, sprouting, and temps. Get him to talk about whole grains, removing the bran/germ, fresh grinding vs. store bought, etc. He will reveal info. that is NOT in NT. For some people suffering from cavities, these are VERY important details.
Can’t wait for this podcast!

How neat! This is going to prompt me to join the modern world and learn how to download podcasts. I’ve had that Healing Tooth Decay book in my amazon cart forever now, I look forward to hearing what he has to say!

My calendar is marked, Ann Marie! This sounds fabulous. Also, I’m thrilled to see the advert for Wise Traditions UK 2010 in London in March. I might just have to dart over from the Balkans…any chance that Louisa might be there too? We can reserve a table for Ann Marie’s international following! LOL This gets better everyday.

This sounds very interesting. My question is about enamel disappearing. I had 2 spots on my teeth filled that weren’t caveties, but the outside of my teeth had dissolved. I wonder if I could re-enamelize? And my second question I’m sure he’ll cover, but what are the most important things to do to keep my kids teeth healthy? Also, is there any real reason to take them to visit the dentist if everything is going well? Last time I took my 5 year old they whisked him off and gave him x-rays and a floride treatment without my permission. (I really should have just taken him home when they refused to let me come in with him!)
Thanks for all your hard work Cheeseslave!

So exciting! I will definitely be subscribing!
I would really like to know if regular butter has teeth benefits??
eg- the brand Western Star.
Or do you need a special kind, like unpasturized??
Sorry I’m not entirely sure how butter is made! Thanks!

Sorry, I didn’t explain this very well. You won’t be able to listen via iTunes until AFTER the show is recorded. You can subscribe via iTunes and then you will get my podcasts every week which you can download to an iPod via iTunes.
To listen to the podcast live, go to this page:
http://www.blogtalkradio.com/cheeseslave
It will be live tomorrow (Tues 1/25) at 10 am PST which is 1 pm EST.
If you miss it, just go to that page after it is done (anytime) and you can either just hit the play button on that page, or click the iTunes button to listen via iTunes.
Let me know if that makes sense.

Oh my goodness I would LOVE to attend the first Wise Traditions conference in London! They are going to be serving raw milk and real ale!
Ask Louisa if she plans to go — just head over to her blog and leave a comment:

I am pretty sure Healthy Family Farms sells raw goat milk, but only directly to their CSA members. Easy enough to join. You can sign up at their farmer’s market stand. Look for the pastured chicken booth at the Santa Monica farmer’s market every Sat (3rd St Promenade) and ask them about their CSA program. They are also at the Sunday Santa Monica farmer’s market (on Main St.)

What a great idea this podcast! I am looking forward to it. And yes I do have questions, after I read the book How to cure toothdecay. The only one I can think of now is how to keep the protocol or even just eating NT in social life?
I am a homeschooling mother of 3 and started all this because my youngest had severe decay at age 2. At home I rather well manage to eat NT, but when going out (family, friends, homeschool activities and so), it is really hard to maintain. Most of my relatives do not eat even organic and think it is all nonsense. Like lately my mother in law had invited the family for lunch in a restaurant and there is really nothing what you can get that is not bad. Drinks are especially a problem with the kids, they only like OJ and other sweet juices (not sodas luckily). And my youngest is desperately looking everywhere for something terrible to eat: white bread, cookies, candies, sweet drinks and so on. When ever she gets the change, she’ll take that and makes a lot of fiss (?) when I see this and try to stop her from taking it. It is everywhere, the bad stuff and people around us, she is seeing it everywhere and wanting it. I think that once in a while it is okay to have something not NT, but what is once in a while?
I hope I maked my self clear enough, it is kind of hard to explain especiallly in english…
looking forward to hear the podcast

Ann Marie and Rami together on the air… unstoppable.
@Cathy… An interview on Oil Pulling is a great idea. And I second Christine’s recommendation of Bruce Fife, ND. He (literally) wrote the book on it. I’d definitely listen to this one.
@Sarah and for everyone… Click here for an excellent toothpaste that is completely fluoride-free. I don’t know which toothpaste Rami recommends, though I still want to read his books. Yet I do know that Doc Harrison’s products (link) are reducing the inflammation in my gums. Plus, they taste really good, and if you leave it in your mouth for a while, you get this neat tingling sensation from the echinacea!
