Do you think parents who choose not to vaccinate are “selfish” or “irresponsible”? On the Today Show yesterday morning, Dr. Nancy Synderman said she thinks so.
From the Today Show website:
“Study after study after study has shown that vaccines are safe, so why are so many parents still convinced it's not right for their children?” TODAY's Matt Lauer asked NBC Chief Medical Editor Dr. Nancy Snyderman.
“An un-immunized child is a walking Typhoid Mary who can put any of those immune-compromised people in an early grave,” Snyderman said. “I personally think it is selfish not to think of that.”

Nancy- Your ignorant comments today are a slap in the face to children like mine who were injured by vaccines! EVERYONE knows vaccines are dangerous!!!!!! Last years “Just get your damn vaccine” comment made me lose any respect for you….and todays comments just made it ever more clear what you are really about!
Patrick Thomas
Nancy Snyderman brought up the almighty ‘herd immunity' and the threshold being approx 90-95% to preserve this scam. Just so happens, here's the lowdown on what they are REALLY after. They want to preserve the quota on vaccines at that same percentage in order to keep receiving federal funding. So-called ‘herd immunity' is nothing but a cash-cow for pharma, states and schools – paid in full by YOU, the taxpayer. WANT PROOF?: http://www.polkmoms.com/forum/topics/herd-immunty-from-vaccines-is-nothing-more-than-vaccine-quotas

Vaccination is a MEDICAL procedure. We have the right to choose to or not to. This is America after all, the land of the free.
The fact you use the scare tactic of herd immunity is appalling. If you have done any proper research, you would know that Herd Immunity in vaccination is a MYTH. So to scare parents into vaccination, with the risks that come along with this medical procedure, is unforgivable.

Nancy ~ I know you are just doing your job “lying to the public” on the Today show. Do you really feel good about telling people to vaccinate their children with poisons? It is NOT your job to tell people what is best for their children, children you haven't even seen. Have you actually looked into the studies of vaccines? Ever noticed the correlation between dates vaccines came out and the rates of autism, brain disorders, and such? Of course you know all of this…and you choose to brainwash for your own selfish desires.

To call any parent “irresponsible” for not choosing to vaccinate their child is a horrible misuse of your position as a physician. You failed to mention that when there is a re occurrence of the diseases that are we vaccinated against, 90 to 95 percent of those that come down with the sickness were previously vaccinated against it. Yes, they were vaccinated yet they still got sick. How does that work? Well, for starters no vaccine can guarantee or give lifetime immunity to a disease. Also, without doing a titer test to prove the vaccine has given you immunity for the time being you don't know that your vaccinated child is correctly protected.
For those of us who have chosen to be “irresponsible,” we all have our reasons. Whether it be based on religion, medically necessary (yes, those precious vaccines do cause allergic reactions, sometimes life threatening), or because we have researched and found that there is not enough pros to outweigh the risk of injecting toxins (like formaldehyde for one) into our children. There is a reason immuno compromised individuals are advised to avoid crowds or those that are sick, because any germs can cause fatal reactions. Most likely even those that are shedding the flu vaccine could injure those who are immuno compromised.
For me, my oldest son was 7 months old and received the seasonal flu vaccine. It was 2 hours later when I was undressing him when we got home from the doctors to give him a bath I noticed he was covered from the neck down in a rash with hives beginning to appear. I called our doctor who said the reaction can”t possibly be from the vaccine, it's been too long. Seriously? 2 hours is too long for a reaction to appear, yet it's supposed to give immunity to that strain? No way. By the way, he's not allergic to eggs either (which is one of the conditions that will preclude you from getting the flu shot.)
You are not the parent, we are. We decide what is best for our own children given all the resources at hand. For some, they vaccinate, for others we don't. It is a difficult enough decision to make, and a lot of material and studies (mostly done by pharmaceutical companies)
Heather Steinberger
Dr. Nancy… I've always respected your medical opinions on the Today show, and I enjoy watching your segments, as you seem very approachable. I don't normally jump in on these things, but I'm appalled at some of your comments about vaccination.
You spoke recently about the risks unvaccinated children pose to people whose immune systems are compromised. What about those children who already are prone to autoimmune disorders? What do multiple vaccinations do to them?? In my family, we have a member who was severely injured by vaccinations as a 15-month-old child; we also have at least three members who suffer from autoimmune disorders. As a result, we chose not to vaccinate our daughter… who is healthy, happy and has none of the childhood allergies that afflict most of our friends' children. Both the pediatricians she's had in her life agreed with us 100% based on family history… they said the risks of vaccinating her outweighed the benefits. One also said, sadly, “But I didn't officially tell you that.”
How can we stifle this conversation? How can we tell parents that vaccinations are 100% safe when we know, for some children, that they aren't? How can we say that they won't injure those with a tendency toward autoimmune disorders when the vaccine makers have paid out millions in the vaccine courts to the families of injured children? I agree that the majority of children will be fine… but there's a group of kids out there who WON'T.
Let's please talk about that… and let's allow parents to make these decisions for their children. No medical procedure should be forced on anyone… I'll homeschool my child before I allow that. And let's also address that while studies show individual vaccines may be acceptable to a child's body, no studies exist that show the long-term effects of so many shots to someone so young. When I was a child, I got a handful of shots. It's tripled since then.
Anyway, that's my 2 cents' worth. I'm absolutely horrified that the mainstream media is not covering this issue fairly. We're not all crackpots screaming “vaccination means autism!” We're simply saying that some children's bodies cannot handle all these shots when they're so small. Most kids, again, may be fine long-term. Based on my experience within my own family, I'm not willing to take that chance with my precious child. Once the damage is done, it cannot be undone.
Vanessa Jones Hadden
Respectfully, Dr. Snyderman, I find your comments regarding irresponsible parenting to be profoundly offensive and narrow-minded, referring to your opinions about vaccines. As a highly educated parent who is capable of doing my own research and differentiating between solid reliable/valid research and internet-junk, I feel it is my DUTY to make choices for my children based on what that research shows me. And how anyone who takes an oath to first DO NO HARM can call someone irresponsible because they refuse to inject their children with neurotoxins (mercury and aluminum), the cells of aborted fetuses, formaldehyde, cells of different species, and a laundry list of other hideous ingredients is absolutely beyond me. Following the “herd” isn't always the best choice.
Dawn Havas
Obviously, you and many don't have a vaccine injured child. There are millions of us parents out here with vaccine injured children. Yeah, our children took the bullet for all of you who continue to chose to believe what you are told about vaccines. How many children and lives need to be destroyed before you wake up?
Jackie Van Horn
I watched your piece on unvax children last nite as well as this morning. You do a huge disservice to parents by scaring them into compliance. To refer to an unvax or select vax child as a “Typhoid Mary” does not tell the truth – a child can STILL be a carrier and infect others, even when fully vax'd. The last time I checked, a vaccine does not kill the virus on the skin, preventing spread. It keeps our bodies from developing the virus into a full blown outbreak in the immunized person. So to reiterate – a child can still be a carrier of a virus, even if they do not have symptoms and have been vaccinated.
Please take some time to read The Vaccine Book by Dr Sears. He takes an unbiased view on vaccines, what is in the different formulations, and helps an educated parent make an educated decision. You may find that we parents have valid reasons for not blindly pumping toxins into our children. An example is the Flumist Vaccine, which contains MSG and Sucrose- a known neurotoxin has no place in a vaccine targeted to children. If there was less toxins in vaccines, and they were more spread out, maybe more parents would feel comfortable with vaccinating.
And please stop blasting parents who are “informed consumers”. We do what is best for our children. To blindly follow the herd and not do research puts my child at risk.
What Do You Think?

Photo credit: Vaccine Injury “My son after a vaccine injury” by Tiffany at Nature Moms Blog — Read his story
my oldest was vaccine-injured. he’s now 4 and has autism. he wasn’t “born” this way. he disappeared after age 2.
my youngest was spared because we stopped vaccinating 2 years ago.
I wish doctors ran viral titers, checked for gut dybiosis and autoimmune issues, before pumping our kids full of neurotoxins and activating their immune system nearly 60 times before age 5.
It’s all about the money. I get shiny mailers from my western ped reminding us to make our “well” appointments. I rely on western med for broken bones, car accidents, or massive injury.
They know little about health, wellness, and prevention.
That’s where this movement steps in…
My oldest daughter was vaccinated and has Asperger’s Syndrome…she was not born that way, like most vaccinated kids who end up with this disorder, her symptoms began at around age 2. My youngest son has never been vaccinated and never will be and he is extremely healthy. I think parents who don’t vaccinate are smart and are looking out for what’s best for their kids.
So, if the unvaccinated pose a risk to the vaccinated, is she saying the vaccine doesn’t work?
That’s the way I interpret it :)!
Always say the same thing. If the vaccine keeps you from getting the disease, then my unvaccinated kid is no threat to any one vaccinated, unless the vaccine doesnt work…
I thought the immune compromised werer not supposed to get vaccinated?
Some people are too young (infants) or cannot get vaccinated (pergnat people, kids with cancer). The risk is posed to those folks.
Just clearing up the confusion.
As usual they are trying to scar the public into vaccinating because it’s money for big pharma. I haven’t had children of my own yet, but when I do I’m not likely to get them fully vaccinated. My husband had a terrible reaction to his first vaccine and was not fully vaccinated because of it. My stepson also had a bad reaction to his vaccines and now has Asperger’s syndrome. These two incidents are reason enough for me to be weary about vaccines. Dr. Nancy doesn’t take cases like this into consideration in her argument though. Part of the problem is that we have a one size fits all vaccine schedule for everyone that isn’t always appropriate.
Thanks for this post, Ann Marie! Herd Immunity, before it was spun as a pro-vaccine marketing slogan/threat, referred to a population’s exposure to a pathogen which would infer some level of protection from the disease to that group. (The inverse of this can be seen in European illnesses decimating Native American peoples.)
Is our children’s health really the doctor’s intent here? The sceptic in me suggests it is more likely a money trail….
Matt Lauer: “Study after study after study has proven vaccines are safe.” One word: BULLSHIT.
I shouldn’t have watched this video, it just gets my blood boiling.
Kelly
Me, too!
Imagine how boiled us “spetrum mommies” are. I even did the delayed freakin’ schedule, b/c I was worried…
Me three!
The more I know, the more I wish I hadn’t vaccinated my children. We have autoimmune and ADHD issues that I believe probably wouldn’t be issues had we not vax’d. I’ve read several articles and studies recently that shed light on the lack of effectiveness in vaccines. For example, a recent Cochrane Database meta-analysis looked at several (thirty something) previous studies, including studies funded by pharmaceutical companies, and found that in ideal conditions (where 100% of the virus exposed to is verified to be flu virus) 35 people must be vaccinated to prevent one case of the flu. In realistic conditions, where viruses that express flu-like symptoms–some of which are indeed flu, and some are not–100 people must be vaccinated to prevent one case of the flu. The effectiveness was even worse for children and the elderly. Vaccinating healthcare workers proved to be completely ineffective for preventing flu in patients, and the list goes on.
Measles outbreaks have been in the news this year. New Jersey was hit particularly hard, so there was an investigation into what percentage of those with measles had been vax’d and what percentage was unvax’d. Guess what? It was about 50% of each! The problem is not unvaccinated people, the problem is that vaccines don’t work that well. My own children caught chicken pox (I chose not to vax for c.p.) from a friend who caught it from a vax’d child. It was during a chicken pox epidemic we experienced at the time in our small town and about half the kids with chicken pox had been vax’d!
My parents both had measles and chicken pox and were stronger, immunologically, because of it. My grandmother gave birth to her first child while she had mumps and she and my uncle were both fine! We need to be far, far more selective about WHAT we are vaccinating for.
Years ago Japan almost completely eliminated SIDS from their country when they changed their recommending vaccine schedule to begin at two years of age. For God knows what reason, they changed their schedule back to begin vaccinating newborns and their SIDS rate is back up to match the rest of us again. T
here is absolutely overwhelming evidence against both the efficacy and the safety of vaccines. Sadly, informed consent, which is supposed to protect the people from being pressured or forced into medical procedures without full disclosure of all risks vs. benefits first, is quickly becoming a thing of the past. Currently in the medical profession, nationwide, healthcare professionals are losing their jobs for refusing flu shots (which have been proven not to work–so you get a hefty dose of heavy metals and toxic preservatives and foreign DNA for nothing). Our rights and freedoms are being trampled upon and lost at an alarming rate and until the public wakes up and actively opposes it, it will continue to get worse.
SIDS is very scary and you bring up a good point about Japan. I have read that before.
“Our rights and freedoms are being trampled upon and lost at an alarming rate and until the public wakes up and actively opposes it, it will continue to get worse.”
I completely agree!!!
Jill, have you ever looked into DMAE? It is an all natural supplement (derived from anchovies and sardines) that was studied at the same time Ritalin was studied. It had all the positive results without any of the side effects. It has done wonders for my son with ADD/ADHD, and my husband with ADD. Here’s an article if you’re interested: http://www.cpmedical.net/articles/dmae
So interesting! Thanks so much, Kaylin!
I’m checking that one out too.
They are trying so hard to scare us, but it just doesn’t work. Do you know why? Too many of us know from PERSONAL experience that vaccines can cause severe reactions! It is sad that this is what keeps the anti-vaccine movement steadily growing, but I am glad people are wising up!
Vaccines are nothing but poison (end of story)…. how can we poison ourselves to health or somehow alter ourselves to make us stronger? It doesn’t work that way…. Injecting these toxins into our bodies only causes our bodies to attack themselves. I’m so glad that more and more people are waking up to the fact that vaccines are not the save all miracle “they” want us to believe it is.
We vaxed our son on schedule until he was four months old. He developed a bump at the injection site that grew and grew and grew until it was the size of a lemon (when he was about 18 months old). During that time we visited several doctors, had countless ultrasounds done and had an MRI done. It cost us thousands of dollars, even after insurance.
The radiologists and doctors would look at the results and say, “I’m not saying it’s the vaccine, I’m just saying that I’ve seen this with vaccines.” One would tell us to let it be; another would tell us to cut it out even though he didn’t know exactly what it was. Another MD explained that our son’s body was essentially reacting to the vaccination by walling off the injection site, then walling it off again and again.
In the end, at the recommendation of our naturopath my husband took our son to see a classical homeopath. I don’t get homeopathy, but we figured we’d try her recommendation. She gave him a few powders to counteract the vaccines, the bump disappeared for a few weeks then reappeared with a vengeance at which point I called a pediatric surgeon who (fortunately) couldn’t get us in for several months. Then, just as the homeopath said it would, the bump broke open and oozed about a cup of very foul liquid. Now he has a scar, and we’re fortunate that his reaction wasn’t more serious.
Oh my gosh, Jenny!
By the way, I allowed Kate to be vaccinated until she was 4 months old as well. At 4 months, the gave her 5 shots in one day. She was so tiny. Never again!
Holy sh!t, that is terrifying. I’m so glad he was able to detox from that :( I have one fully vaccinated 6-year-old and a selectively-vaccinated 2-year-old (who was born with several issues and I didn’t want to overwhelm his body). My oldest has lots of ear/nose/throat issues (he’s on GAPS now), and we’re lucky that that is where the immune system issues stop. Yikes.
My son is immunocompromised right now because of chemo and you know what keeps him healthy? WAPF nutrition and breastmilk. 4 rounds of chemo and not one fever or illness and none of my kids are vaccinated(stopped vaccinating 3 years ago due to children having vaccine injury) and all of the kids he hangs with are unvaccinated too! It took three full round before his ANC dipped below .650 ( it was .1 and jumped to 1.7 in a week). It took two full round before he started losing his hair and even after four rounds he still has some. Walking typhoid Mary, HA! I am more afraid of him being around kids who are vaccinated and shedding.
I was told that his type of cancer grows b/c of a change in the environment in the body,
Me :”like a severe vaccine reaction and seizure?”
Dr.:”Oh no, vaccine don’t do that”
Let’s not forget the hundreds of thousand’s of children who canNOT receive any vaccinations due to pediatric cancers, organ transplants, or immune deficiency issues asso. with various conditions/syndromes. These kids have never been able to comply with “mandatory” vaccinations. Yet no one is berating those parents or calling them names, nor questioning their fitness to raise children. These children have also not dragged down the human race by spreading disease. Typhoid Mary, wow!
My older two are mostly vaccinated because I didn’t know better when I had them. My oldest is 4 and was diagnosed with high functioning autism at 2.5. When he was diagnosed, I didn’t think vaccines had anything to do with it. My 2.5 year old is now showing signs of autism. I now feel that vaccines are what caused my older two boys issues. My 17 month old has had no vaccines at all and he is developing as he should. He is doing things his older two brothers didn’t do at this age. I highly doubt it’s a coincidence that my 17 month old is unvaccinated and developing properly and that my older two were vaccinated and have developmental and speech delays. I find it annoying when people want to judge me for not vaccinating. They don’t go through what I do. I’m pretty sure if they were in my shoes, they would stop vaccinating too. I also have a 3 month old that is not vaccinated. I will say that when I did get my older two vaccinated, I always felt horrible about it. The whole “Vaccines have been proven to not cause autism” is a bunch of B.S. Come to my house and I’ll show you how wrong that statement is.
As parents we have information and opinions coming at us from every direction. It is hard to decide when to follow our gut, or trusted advice, and when to further research. Still, I believe that when you are dealing with life long effects you must research and decide for your individual child what is best. Whether that puts you on the pro or anti vaccine side isn’t my business.
Study after study after study by Merck, Pfizer, GlaxoSmithKline, Eli Lilly, Bristol-Myers Squibb, Abbott Laboratories, Johnson and Johnson, AstraZeneca, etc. have shown exactly what the drug companies want them to show.
Comments like “An un-immunized child is a walking Typhoid Mary” make me crazy. The vaccinated children are carriers, not the unvaccinated ones. And if vaccines are so effective, why are outbreaks among vaccinated children in schools, daycares, etc. always blamed on the one unvaccinated child in the bunch?
A “walking Typhoid Mary” would be dead. Is the immune system really so badly designed that NOT injecting foreign substances and viruses directly into the bloodstream is the foolhardy option??
This makes me want to swear a lot. I won’t. The thing I don’t get is why are the people that are always complaining or worried about us that don’t vaccinate. They should be fine because they are vaccinated. I guess they don’t trust the vaccinations.
I feel we were very lucky. My son was slightly behind on his vaccination schedule, so at 15 mo they decided to catch him up and give them all to him at once and told us how it was such a good idea to get the checken pox vaccine too. A whole slew of toxins were dumped into his system all at once. We took him home and went through two days of seizures. There wasnt any fever accompanying it. He was playing, walked toward us, started crying then fell down having a seizure. my wife had never seen a seizure so she freaked out. I grew up in a medical family, and had worked doing security in a hospital for a while so I knew what to do, but it was still un-nerving to say the least. We reported it to the doctor, who said that since he had bumped into a table right before the seizure, it had made him mad and it was nothing more than a severe breathe holding spell. Way to not accept reality, Doc! He had no ill effects from this. Like I said, we feel very VERY lucky. He didnt get any more vacines since then. We homeschool so it isnt much of an issue. When he was about 8 we decided to try public school to releive my poor wife who was homeschooling two kids and had just had #3. In order to enter school, he had to have I think it was a Hep test. Its not a vaccine, just an injection barely under the skin to see if there is a reaction. Boy was there. He curled into the fetal position and was in absolute agony for a day. He had to be carried home because he couldnt get out of the fetal position. We dont inject anything into him anymore. The bummer is, he is now 15 and wanted to join the military as all good teenage boys are tempted to do. In talking to a friend who is a military medic, he said that regardless of past, regardless of medical diagnosis saying no vaccines, the military will ask for your shot record, and in one day get you updated on everything, all at once, even if it will kill you. My son is now disappointed, but fully accepting that he will never serve in the military.
Wow what a story!
Thank God he is OK.
In fact, we have decided that we are so antivaccine, we leave for Thailand in 12 days and havent gotten a single shot. Our doctor is aghast!
I also posted this last time Sarah did a vaccine post on Healthy Home Economist. Before I stayed home with my kids I had a seriously wealthy client. The guy was pretty unlikable, but he melted me one day when he started talking about his medical research foundation’s work. Specifically the work on vaccines. He and the researchers were really excited about work they were doing to try to isolate genes that made someone at serious risk if they were to contract specific diseases to identify those who should be vaccinated and those who would face no harm if they were to be exposed. Due to patents on genes and genetic testing they kept hitting walls legally. The other thing the researchers were working on was creating toxin free vaccines, unfortunately drug companies weren’t interested. This man was nearly brought to tears by the thought that the work they were trying to do to create truly safe vaccines to be given to only those who would truly be harmed by a disease was being held up by corporate greed.
It won’t be until the autism rate is 1 in 2, that the freakin’ companies will open their eyes…
But I give that another ten years.
Haha! Your mom sounds great!
Absolutely NOT!!! In fact, quite the opposite! I did my due diligence back in 1983-1985 when my kids were babies. I read the books back then and the vaccines have only increased in number and toxicity since then! I would NEVER, under any circumstances vaccinate my children! My advise: Don’t listen to the propaganda from Big Pharma (who only stands to gain from it – not only from the vaccine, but then all the complications from it), read books like A Shot in the Dark, and other such books. Get the FACTS!
WOW..THIS DR. is IGNORANT TO THE HIGHEST DEGREE !!! ITS NOT THAT these parents in their 30’s and 40’s are just passing the issue by at a low bar!!! I am 32 , have done tons of research and have come to the conclusion that un vaccinated autistic children are non existent, with the exception of A MOTHER WHO WAS RECEIVED SHOTS during pregnancy! GIVE ME A BREAK!! LOOK AT THE ingredients PEOPLE we are poisoning OUR CHILDREN! 100% anti VACCINE MOTHER HERE~~
Watching Dr. Nancy ALWAYS annoys the crap out of me! Even if she is only talking about a runny nose, she always seems so condescending. But her most recent comments really get my goat.
First off, aren’t most vaccines made in China? Reason number one to run and hide from them. Any country that thought it was perfectly okey-dokey to put melamine as a source of protein in their infant formula should be avoided. If they have no qualms maiming their own people, I would imagine they care even less about the American population’s health.
And second, our own government “speaks with fork tongue.” They will tell us vaccines are safe, but then why does every vaccine have a portion of the proceeds going to the National Vaccine Injury Compensation Program to protect those injured from the very shots they promised were safe?
It’s getting to the point that living in a cave somewhere becomes more and more appealing!!
Thank you for mentioning the NVICP. I hadn’t heard of it before. Right now it is 3.37 trillion dollars in the hole. If vaccines are safe, then how did we get 3.37 trillion in debt over 23 years of paying non-existent claims?
My apologies may be needed; I read the budget more thoroughly, and it seems there’s a positive balance somewhere that evens out that negative. I’m not sure, as I don’t do too well reading budgets. Something else of interest, though, is the amount paid from this fund to claims courts and the Department of Justice; over 10 billion dollars just in FY2011. And no surprise, the lawyers were paid more than the defendants. 4.5 billion to courts, 5.7 billion to DOJ. Thats an awefully large sum being paid to a problem that doesn’t exist!
When my son was 15 months old he had a severe reaction to a vaccine. Luckily we were in his doctor’s office when it happened. He had gotten the shot about a week earlier and they told me he would probably develop a low grade fever. Well, he did get the fever only instead of going away in a couple of days it lingered on. Knowing something was wrong, I took him into the Dr.’s office. We were in the examining room and my son was toddling around in his diaper waiting for the Dr. to come in. All of a sudden he walked over to me, sat straight down and fell over. He was in a comma. While in the ambulance on the way to the hospital, the EMT was questioning me about what may have happened to cause this. I told him nothing different had happened except the shot. I was also questioned at the hospital over and over. My answer was the same: nothing had happened except the shot. I felt like they were accusing me of doing something and I was actually scared, at one point, that I might get in trouble. He was in a comma for five days with a very high fever. All tests came back negative and they didn’t have a clue as to what had caused the coma. All they could tell me was that I would have to wait until he regained consciousness, if he ever did, to tell if there was any permanent damage. Thankfully, he recovered fully. This happened in 1989 and, at that point, I had never heard about any controversy surrounding vaccines but I was sure the shot was the cause. He did have vaccines after that, but I have long been a follower of alternative health and as soon as I read the first article about this issue he never received another one. Luckily, my chiropractor never had any of his 11 children vaccinated and he helped me create a letter that I gave to my son’s school and they allowed him to attend despite not having the “manditory” vaccinations. I also sat by a man and his family at a formal dinner one time. His 21 year-old daughter was in a wheelchair and was severely mentally and physically disabled. He told me that she had been born in perfect health and her current condition had been caused by a reaction to a vaccination. I think parents who have their children vaccinated are the irresponsible ones. Why would you take the chance?
When my son was young (23 years ago) I felt SO bullied into giving him vaccines that I did. He was feverish etc at the time and I felt so worried ang uilty for giving them to him. I’m not sure if it is a coincidence or not but for the first few years of his life we thought he was Austistic because he was so sensitive and reactive. So far he’s a healthy adult but with ADHD and other issues and I just wonder how DNA or other chemical/hormoal/amino acids structures/components were effeted for the long term…
I cringe every time I hear that an elderly person is getting a flu shot…
BTW it’s very interesting that this same push for vaccines can be directly applied to blood transfusions which are VERY dangerous, costly and unnecessary and are used as a ‘default/just-in-case” (like a vaccine, “no, you NEED this”) and the hospital is the BIG profiteer while the patients immune system suffers, among many other serious problems.
She’s an MD and doesn’t know much, if anything, about nutrition and vaccines! Nuff said!
Unbelievable isn’t it? It makes me so sad to see how gullible we’ve become. Come on… just FOLLOW THE MONEY… I dont have a clue who this Dr. Nancy is but I can guarantee you if you follow the money, she is in the back pocket of the pharma industry.
And no, I did NOT vaccinate at all. I read and researched before my daughter was even born and came to the conclusion that big pharma is completely corrupt.
Prior to joining NBC News, Snyderman served as Vice President, Consumer Education for the health care corporation, Johnson & Johnson. There she led the independent educational initiative, Understanding Health, focusing on educating and informing the public about health and medicine. Before that, Snyderman served as the medical correspondent for ABC News for 17 years and was a contributor to “20/20,” “Primetime,” and “Good Morning America.” Prior to leaving ABC she was a frequent substitute co-host on “Good Morning America.”
Snyderman attended medical school at the University of Nebraska and continued with residencies in Pediatrics and Ear, Nose, and Throat Surgery at the University of Pittsburgh. She joined the surgical staff at the University of Arkansas in 1983 and began her broadcasting career shortly after at KATV, the ABC affiliates in Little Rock, Arkansas.
Snyderman’s medical work has been widely published in peer review journals and she has received numerous research grants from the American Cancer Society, the Kellogg Foundation, and the American Academy of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery.
Ummmmm……do we see anything here that qualifies the wench as THE world authority on vaccinating? I’m far from impressed by her credentials or experience.
I have seen this sooo many times. My great uncle fell ill as a 70ish yr old. He was starvied by his health care provider. He went from 215 lbs to 110 pounds. He got to the point that he couldnt keep food down at all. I told my mother to giv him some high quality vitamins and he started doing much better, bot to eating and was up to 180 lbs. His doctor then recommended he get the flu shot to make sure, in his compromised condition, that he didnt get sick. He was dead the next day. Of course it had nothing to do with the vaccine. My fathers best friend, at 80, got a flu shot and apparently there is a one in million chance it creates an auto immune disease where it eats the myalin sheath off every nerve in your body, causing constant excrutiating pain. He has been battling that for 5-10 yrs.
Gee, or you could just deal with the sniffles for a week… I have seen first hand how great vaccines are!
Reading all these comments that’s what I kept thinking. I haven’t lived in the US full time in quite a few years, I live in Italy now, and there aren’t nearly as many mandatory vaccines here. My pediatrician has never once suggested my kids get the flu vaccine, and nobody vaccinates for the chicken pox. I mean, seriously, the chicken pox? I had it, everyone I know had it, we all survived. The chances of dying from the chicken pox or the flu are lower than those of dying in a car crash, shall we all give up our cars? I’ve selectively vaccinated my kids (vaccines in Italy no longer contain mercury) but I’d be really wary of going overboard with the vaccinations, in spite of the fact that my husband is on immune-suppressants from a bone marrow transplant (leukemia). When I read stuff like this it makes me want to shake the likes of this Dr Nancy and tell them to invest their time, money and effort in helping people improve their god-given immune systems, the ones that have helped us survive and evolve for millions of years. The sniffles really aren’t so bad, there’s chicken soup for those.
Dr. Nancy is bought and paid for. Mainstream media is so fake, it’s all about manipulating the people in order to make $$$.
I so cannot stand her. Her comments are so ignorant!! I still remember her ‘get the damn vaccine’ comment… what an idiot!!
I’d love some links to those studies, if she has them. NOT!!!
FYI: I’m mommy to 2 unvaccinated home-birthed boys, ages 7 years and almost 2 years. Both were some of the best decisions I ever made!!
I made it through half the video and just couldn’t stand it anymore…
Did you notice how she got the reasons for not vaccinating all wrong? Most parents don’t vaccinate because vaccines are dangerous, not effective, risk of autism and other degenerative diseases, etc. – NOT because nutrition is better, or ‘herd immunity’ or whatever else she says. Did she get anything right in that interview??? (I’m steamed now…)
I wish some people could at least take more of a middle ground. I don’t have kids and haven’t done a ton of research. I have a feeling I’ll probably vax against major stuff like tetanus and polio after age 2. But there are so many unnecessary vaccines (i.e., flu). I understand people die from flu as well, but that is avoidable if you boost your immune system. It’s so indoctrinated in society now to get your flu shot at any age, and zero discussion of any risks.
Not to be argumentative, but please research the origins of tetanus. As I understand it, it was related to horse manure. People would be stomping around the corral, step on a horse shoe nail or whatever, then step in manuer or whatever. That is how the nail was brought into it. it wasnt that it was rusty. It was that it was covered in manure. Here in Alaska, they recommend the tetanus shot for just about anything that bleeds. Oddly enough, there has never been a reported case of tetanus in Alaska that I am aware of. So unless you plan on having your kids stomping around in horse manure a lot, you may not need it. Just sayin…
Hmm, interesting. I haven’t researched any of this yet, not having kids. I plan to when I do.
Good luck to you! Its not an easy task, nor are the decisions to be taken lightly. To make it more fun, my mother is a nurse, old school nurse I might add. Vaccinations are direct from heaven. God opened up the clouds and handed a bottle of vaccines to the medical community, saying “I command thee to taketh this and go forth and injecteth”. There is not a single conversation with her that doesnt somehow come back to my daughters need the HPV vaccine, or something about how I am endangering her grandkids lives and my eternal soul by not vaccinating. Ultimately though, it comes down to what you feel is right from the research you have done. It is a very divisive topic. Our kids health is worth the effort though. And if that isnt enough, you can talk to my stepdad the dentist about mercury fillings or fluoride! Family gatherings are really fun at my house! LOL!
Funny, my mom is the total opposite. Once she saw documentary, THE GREATER GOOD, she is telling everyone she meets every detail of the film.
Especially, the controversy surround the WHY the Hep B is given to day old babies…
We chose not to do tetanus for that very reason… no documented cases of tetanus since they started keeping those records here in our young state. I figure if we we’re out of state and someone gets a puncture wound we can get the shot then.
“I have a feeling I’ll probably vax against major stuff like tetanus and polio after age 2.”
Add meningitis to that list. A friend of friend’s baby died of it at 17 months (I’m not sure which strain the little girl had). That was heartbreaking; I felt terrible for my friend and even worse for the family (who I didn’t know personally).
Dr. Mendolsohn calls the effectiveness of today’s tetanus vaccine about as effective as tap water. http://www.whale.to/v/mend.html Tap water preserved with mercury…..go figure. Free will is a beautiful thing. If you freely choose to inject your child with such toxic substances, by all means, have a go at it. I am far less fearful of the viruses themselves….oddly enough, most of my European neighbors are not dropping dead of the viruses, are less attached to the vaccine mentality, and enjoy longer lifespans than their American counterparts.
I have a few thoughts.
1. This woman seems to think that her expertise trumps religious freedom. Her opening comment about someone using their Catholicism to get out of vaccines is followed by the conclusion that “the bar is really low.” Since when in America is religious freedom not of supreme importance, to be treasured *more than* our physical safety? Once we discovered the connection between vaccines and abortion, we could no longer in good conscience participate…because of our *religion*.
2. Her argument about an unimmunized child being a “walking Typhoid Mary” is what we call in logic a false analogy. In an analogy, the two objects being compared (here the unvaccinated child and Typhoid Mary) have to share the same property in order to in REALITY be said to have the same threat level. In the case of Typhoid Mary, she was a known unsymptomatic carrier of typhoid–which in and of itself is extremely rare. In order for the analogy to be proven, the burden is on Dr. Nancy to show that unimmunized children actually carry diseases which are a threat. This is wildly speculative–I highly doubt that unimmunized children carry more and more dangerous diseases than any other child. To prove this, she would need extensive scientific research.
We have friends that carry both strep and staph, for instance, and they are probably more dangerous to immuno-compromised people than my unvaccinated children (half of my children are partially vaxed and half are unvaxed). In addition to this, it was later scientifically proven that Typhoid Mary had actually infected many people, some of whom had died. The same cannot be said of unvaxed children.
3. Dr. Nancy says that all of us avoiding vaccines are doing so because we do not take diseases of past generations seriously. I think what she fails to see is that *we* see it as taking diseases of our *own* generation seriously. My cousin is disabled with Guillian-Barre because of the flu shot. Half of my children were vaccine damaged–they are now fine, but we caught it early and provided extensive recovery care for them. My unvaccinated children are completely normal. I do not–CANNOT–know scientifically whether or not this has to do with vaccines, or whether it is something else, but what I do know is that our choices were made because we took two things very seriously: our religion, and the problems of our older children.
Dr. Nancy is just a tool for the criminal pharmaceutical companies…..follow the money.
Although my 4 girls are all grown up now, they did get vaccinated when they were little and thankfully didn’t get any bad effects from them. However, when I “woke up” years later, I was very angry finding out they contained dangerous toxic ingredients especially mercury. It is much worst now and children are getting up to 35+ vaccines by the time they’re 5 years old. This is all part of depopulation purposes as stated by globalist Bill Gates. You can look it up on youtube. It’s absolutely disgusting. I’d like to inject him with thousands of vaccines for all the damage he’s caused innocent children/families. Anything the doctors say about vaccines preventing diseases, flu, etc., means the opposite – they’re all lies!! Just eat a good diet (organic & grass-fed if possible), no processed foods, take supplements such as Vit D, Vit C, fish oil, etc., to keep immune system in top shape. Plus, this is also about control of the masses.
Dr. Blaylock, Dr. Mercola & Mike Adams of Natural News also talk about the dangers of vaccines.
I am so tired of having to defend my choices. Seriously. Get off my ass or I’m slamming on my brakes and coming out gnashing and slashing like a she bear!
Sorry. Just needed to vent.
I am 54 and had measles and chickenpox when I was about 7 and 8, respectively. My grandmother had smallpox when she delivered my dad and they both survived to live long productive lives The bottom line is: healthy people in sanitary living conditions have immune systems designed to fight disease.
I was blessed to have a pediatrician (who was actually a neonatologist) who was fully supportive of the choice to NOT vaccinate, when my teenagers were babies. He was the father of eight children who decided for himself to STOP vaccinating midway through his third child’s vaccination schedule after he witnessed a neurological reaction in her hand after a particular vaccine. (Sorry, I don’t recall which one it was) He did offer vaccines as an option to parents who really wanted it but encouraged starting later, after the child’s own immune system was more fully developed at about two years of age. I was able to ask him “what if” questions about the possibility of specific diseases occurring. While I don’t have his knowledge of the specific treatments I DO have his confidence that a healthy child can get through most anything.
He left (Anchorage) quite a few years ago and moved back to his home state to take a job as a neonatologist in a critical care unit. Mothers cried when he left. Literally.
When I went shopping for a new pediatrician I had one practice inform me (after they learned whose practice I was coming from) that if I chose to not vaccinate I needed to find another practice as they insisted upon 100% compliance. I really hate arrogance. I moved on to find a ped who was more than happy to let me decide on my children’s health and was actually the one who told me about the tetanus info shared above. I have seen her very little in the last several years because my children stay healthy.
My children are in their 20s and were never vaccinated. We never had a pediatrician because they rarely got sick. My son has been in the Army for the past 5 years and has commented on the fact that he must have an awesome immune system because the other guys get sick much more than he does, and that’s despite severe training and deployment situations in the Special Forces. My other children have no physical problems at all. It takes a very strong, dedicated and self-educated mother who will resist all the pressure from others to vaccinate, and I strongly encourage young mothers today to educate yourselves and stand firm in your decision to say NO!!!
Did the make him vaccinate when he joined the Army? We were told repeatedly that there was no choice, they got you current regardless of how many that is all in one day, even if it killed you. Seemed kinda odd to me, if a Dr has said in his medical opinion, you should no longer vaccinate, that the military will trump that. Seems they would be opening themselves up to one really big law suit…
You know there’s a big difference between my son and Typhoid Mary. Typhoid Mary actually carried typhoid. My son, as far as anyone can figure, isn’t carrying anything. Not vaccinating doesn’t give you the disease. If there were measles or diphtheria floating around in our area, you would have heard of it. Where would we have gotten it from?
First and foremost, though, my son is my responsibility. Other people’s children aren’t. I trust them to make the best decisions for their immunocompromised children — keeping them away from sources of infection (yes, including my son if they’re nervous about it), boosting their immune system the best they can, and getting the most up-to-date information about outbreaks of disease. If my son were a nursing home worker or worked with newborns, he might need to be vaccinated to keep others safe. But he isn’t. He’s a child. His only job is to keep himself well.
I will not sacrifice my son to injury or death to *theoretically* protect someone else’s child from the same. If it’s selfish to see my responsibility as a mother to my own son first, then perhaps moms ought to let their own children burn to death in a fire while saving other people’s, or take their children’s food and give it to other children who might be hungrier. I will gladly help others’ children if they need help — but not at the expense of my own son. Call me selfish if you like.
“If there were measles or diphtheria floating around in our area, you would have heard of it. Where would we have gotten it from?”
There are a handful of measles outbreaks every year in the US. Usually, they happen when an unvaccinated person travels overseas, gets infected and brings the disease back to the US. Because unvaccinated families tend to be friends with at least some other unvaccinated families, the outbreaks can spread in the US. A recent outbreak in Minnesota infected 21 people, 7 of them infants too young to be vaccinated. (Source, if you’re interested: http://www.cdc.gov/mmwr/preview/mmwrhtml/mm6020a7.htm)
Thank you so much for posting this video!
When my son was an infant, my husband and I put him on our own vaccine schedule. At a military doctor’s appointment, after I told a nurse which vaccines we would be doing (less than the CDC recommendations), he told me that I was breaking the law AND that he would report me and my husband to his Commanding Officer. It was at this point that I stopped taking these vaccine-pumping people seriously.
And after much more research, we stopped vaccinating altogether.
Since then, I have met many parents whose children have been harmed by vaccines. When a child is harmed by a vaccine, it is not just he or she that suffers. Whole families suffer too; emotionally and financially. There’s no way that I would potentially “sacrifice” my children just for Big Pharma to make a profit. No way at all.
And I want to point one more thing out. At the end, she talks about un-vaccinated children being a risk to people with cancer or compromised immune systems. There are also people with health problems that CANNOT be near a child/person who has been recently vaccinated. I experienced it with a relative of mine who was going through some health problems. Luckily, we had stopped doing vaccines and my son was able to cuddle with her.
Thanks for the post….such a frustrating situation. I just thought I’d share my two cents. I am a former OSHA nurse for a company. I used to give vaccines to the entire company. Then I finally started reading the package inserts (which I guarantee you 99% of doctors/nurses don’t read). That started me questioning everything and i started reading for myself (the Vaccine Book for one) my daughter was born and was not vaccinated at all. She ended up being developmentally delayed (teetering on the ASD) and is clearly a GAPS child because of my unhealthy body before/during pregnancy. Her chiropractor/cranio sacral therapist who is WAPF minded told me that if I would have had her vaccinated she would have been ‘worse than autistic’. I’m sure she would have been at least autistic, heck she might even be on the spectrum now….anyway, I think there is so much politics going on in medicine it is truly hard to decide for yourself, even going to naturally minded practitioners. I have learned through this whole course that you have to go with your instincts, and what doctors have to say or even going to doctors and not figuring it out for yourself and your family usually is contrary to your instincts. Dr. Mom knows best!!
This post is very timely for me. I skipped my 8 month old son’s last round of vaccines (except the whooping cough since its a problem around the area we live in) because of my growing concern about their safety. Well, my health insurance company sent me a letter about the fact that I had missed some. It included some blather vaccines being “safe and effective.” Anyhow, along with the letter was a postcard reiterating the supposed safety of vaccines. At the bottom of the mush it said: This correspondence is paid for by Pfizer Inc. It’s all about the money!! If you want pictures of the letter & postcard, I’d be happy to share. That bit about Pfizer was plain as day, it was not hidden in fine print–they are shameless!
“You failed to mention that when there is a re occurrence of the diseases that are we vaccinated against, 90 to 95 percent of those that come down with the sickness were previously vaccinated against it.”
This simply isn’t true. You can read the CDC’s fact sheet on measles in 2011 here. (http://www.cdc.gov/mmwr/preview/mmwrhtml/mm6020a7.htm) 87% of the children infected were unvaccinated.
I think the rhetoric used in the video was overheated and unfair, but it is important to remember that one family’s decision to remain unvaccinated can affect another family. In a recent outbreak of measles in Minnesota, seven infants too young to be vaccinated were infected. We often talk about choice in the vaccine debate, but think of those babies and their families. They had no choice about getting measles, which is serious in infants, requiring hospitalization about half the time.
@Rachel Hmmm I’ll have to look into this.
That said… when it comes to measles, I don’t understand why anyone should ever be vaccinated for measles. It is NOT a life-threatening illness. I had measles and chicken pox when I was a kid.
I also want to say that we ALL need to work to improve our immunity.
Very small infants should not leave the home and should not be exposed to other children. I did not take my daughter out of our home until she was about 6 weeks old.
Babies should also be breastfed and if the mother has inadequate gut flora, they should be taking a probiotic.
Instead of assuming that we need more vaccines, maybe we need more probiotics to protect us and our babies.
“It is NOT a life-threatening illness. I had measles and chicken pox when I was a kid.”
Most cases play out like yours: the patient recovers fully. In some rare cases (roughly in 1000), the virus crosses the blood-brain barrier and the patient develops encephalitis. The brain swells rapidly and patient lapses into a coma and, in some cases, dies. The most frightening thing about measles encephalitis is that being healthy before you get infected doesn’t seem to help; it’s a (bad) luck-of-the-draw sort of thing.
But the idea that measles can’t kill is totally false. It kills over 100,000 people every year (the overwhelming majority in the 3rd world) and it can, in very rare cases, kill healthy people in developed countries. (You can check out the wiki page for measles for more information, if you like.)
Cars kill too. Lighting strikes. We’re mortal. We will never be able to eliminate all the things that kill us (think of the over-population were that to be the case). Measles kills 100,000 people every year? the majority of which in the 3rd world? How about we try and make people in the third world healthier, stronger, and, you know, not starving so they have a fighting chance against these illnesses like the rest of us. without the vaccine.
Most people try to avoid car accidents and lightening strikes. I’ve heard of people intentionally infecting their children with measles in a misguided attempt to make them stronger. I’ve never heard of anyone subjecting their child to a car accident or lightening strike. (And I agree with you, Moomser; the comparison is apt.)
@Rachel
Thanks for your comments. I did a little googling and now I think I should write a whole post about the measles vaccine.
According to the World Health Organization ( http://www.who.int/mediacentre/factsheets/fs286/en/ )
“More than 95% of measles deaths occur in low-income countries with weak health infrastructures.”
“Vitamin A supplements have been shown to reduce the number of deaths from measles by 50%.”
I could go dig up more statistics like those, but I think it’s safe to say that nutrition and sanitation go a LONG way toward preventing death by measles and other diseases. If vitamin A alone reduces deaths by 50%, what would vitamin A PLUS good sanitation do to reduce the deaths?
Here is a really interesting article I found making the argument that the measles vaccination has actually caused measles to become MORE likely to cause death:
http://www.vaccinationnews.com/Scandals/Sept_13_02/Scandal33.htm
Excerpt:
“…measles may have been made a more serious disease because of measles vaccination. Prior to widespread vaccination, once a population had been exposed to measles, few adults or infants contracted it, adults due to lifelong immunity and infants due to maternal antibodies. Now, adults AND infants are getting the measles, with serious consequences. “
The article goes on to say:
“I would like to include reference to a recent Washington Post article entitled: ‘Measles Still Menace to Infants: Vaccinated Moms Pass Less Immunity to Babies’. In this article it was noted that although in 1976 3% of measles cases occurred in children less than one, today more than 25% do. The author also indicated that prior to vaccination, 3 to 4 million measles cases occurred with around 500 deaths. This would make the case-fatality ratio for that period between 1 to 2 per 10,000. In the years 1989, 1990 and 1991 combined, however, it was reported that around 55,000 people got the measles and 166 died, making the case-fatality ratio dramatically higher at 3 out of 1,000. At this rate, fewer than 175,000 cases per year would be necessary to result in the same number of deaths which used to occur when there were millions of cases.”
The argument is continued in another article ( http://www.vaccinationnews.com/Scandals/Sept_6_02/Scandal32.htm )
“One of the first signs of trouble was when it was discovered that measles-vaccinated moms do not protect their infants the way moms who had the measles do. To compound the problem, whenever there was maternal protection, it interfered with the effectiveness of the measles vaccine.
Now we find that measles may not be able to be eradicated or controlled on a long-term basis, the biggest impediment possibly being that it circulates among the vaccinated, boosting vaccine-induced immunity and causing mild or subclinical cases of the disease. All of which means that if the vaccine is not life-long, we are probably looking at adults getting the measles, unless they are (repeatedly?) vaccinated.
And what if re-vaccination does not work? There is clearly evidence that it may not.”
But what if repeated vaccination is not safe?”
Which brings us back to our original discussion, which is all about questioning the safety of vaccines in the first place. Seems like we’ve come full circle.
By all means, write that blog post. I’d be interested to read it (no sarcasm).
It’s sad that we even have to discuss measles in 2011. The disease could be eradicated like smallpox. That’s something that hopefully pro- and anti-vax people can agree on: it’s a good thing that no one catches smallpox anymore.
I read that article you linked to. I think their facts are right (or at least mostly right) but their interpretation of the statistics is off. Email me if you want my 2 cents.
Rachel, love, have a look at http://articles.mercola.com/sites/articles/archive/2099/12/31/experimental-smallpox-drug-test.aspx?e_cid=20111205_DNL_artTest_B6
Even Siga’s Web site notes smallpox is “no longer found in the natural environment.”
The U.S. government is claiming the need to stockpile the drug in order to strengthen U.S. preparedness should the virus be used as a biological weapon in a terrorist attack.
But, reportedly, smallpox is not in the hands of a terrorist group; in all probability, only the U.S. government and a Russian science institute have the virus.
As reported by the Los Angeles Times:
“Once feared for its grotesque pustules and 30% death rate, smallpox was eradicated worldwide as of 1978 and is known to exist only in the locked freezers of a Russian scientific institute and the U.S. government. There is no credible evidence that any other country or a terrorist group possesses smallpox.”
Here comes the next rung on the US vaccination ladder. My scar from the smallpox vaccine I endured when I was 6 has yet to completely fade off of my arm.
Oh, I know that it was kept in freezers by both the US and Russia. I meant eradicated from the natural world.
Why does it strike you as sinister that the US is stockpiling a drug that could be used to treat it? Since the fall of the USSR, there have been increasing concerns that Soviet technology will fall into the wrong hands.
ROTFLOL….Right! http://edition.cnn.com/2011/12/08/politics/siga-technologies-hhs-contract/index.html
Hi, Rachel,
I’d love to hear why you think their facts are off.
I can’t do email because my inbox is totally overloaded and I can’t get through it all.
Please reply to this comment.
Anything put out by the CDC is not credible.
Would you believe something put out by Britain’s Health Protection Agency? What about the World Health Organization? (Or is this one of those “anyone who tells me what I don’t want to hear is a liar” things?)
http://www.hpa.org.uk/web/HPAweb&HPAwebStandard/HPAweb_C/1195733835814
Bless you, Rachel…..no, no, and no! Bear in mind, I am on the same continent as GB and NICE, and when the WHO flu struck, it was all of the immunised Brits that were catching it. Right across the channel, France was largely WHO flu-free in comparison, and the Eurostar is crossing the Channel Tunnel several times a day. Think about it, Duck!
Not really since the WHO has been caught giving vaccines they knew sterilized the women in mexico and the phillipines. I think it was HCG and Tetanus. Look it up. Gardasil is causing tons of problems. The companies knowingly distribute it. The problem is that all of these organizations are populated with Big Pharma ex-CEO types, including the FDA, and they donate tons of money to all these charitable organizations, and donate vaccines. I think it was Hitler who said if you tell a lie often enough it becomes the truth, or something like that. The doctors/nurses/etc are required to get so many credits of continuing education classes. These are all put on by Big Pharma. They are often in locations like Vegas, or Hawaii, or at the very least are lavish dinners. My mom always talks about lobster or steak dinners. Guess what they teach them? The benefits of the latest drug or vaccine! Do they talk about the dangers? Not so much so. Who pays for the research? big Pharma. Who runs the medical journals either upfront or financially? Big Pharma. The FDA says its safe? Big Pharma. The curriculum at medical school? Big Pharma. Who pays the medical schools huge endowments? Big Pharma. I grew up watching this happen all around me. I grew up in hospitals and nursing homes my mother worked in. I heard all the doctors talking. I started going into medicine, but was rapidly disillusioned. It is ALL money with Big Pharma pulling ALL the strings, here in the US and all across the globe.
Short answer – Nope don’t trust a thing that comes out of any of those sources.
Do you have alternative statistics on the mortality rate of measles infections? If so, link and I’d be excited to see them.
Dont beleive I said that I did, just that I dont trust anyone that is bought and paid for by the folks they are promoting. You seem like an intelligent person, and are perfectly within your rights to believe as you wish, and to do with your body as you wish, which is the point of this discussion. No one is attacking your rights to believe in what you want. You come across as argumentative, intentional or not, at least to me. This is an issue that people feel very strongly about. Most have researched it independently and come up with their own view of what is right. I have been around the medical field for 40 yrs. I have no recollection of anyone dying of measles. I wasa even around the reservations at one point. I have heard of someone dying from menengitis once or twice. These things are extremely rare. You are more likely to die from your toilet bowl cleaner. And please remember that a statistic is only as good as the morals of the statistician. Thats the great thing about statistics is that you can use them to prove any point. No one needs to be hounded to provide hard numbers to back their case. We are not discussing this in a court of law. You have your beliefs and I have mine. I wish you the best of health and a long and happy life. I just wont advocate for vaccinations based on my experiences. I hope no one has to go through the many experiences described on this forum. They are heart wrenching tales. No amount of statistics can say otherwise. How many vaccine damaged kids are acceptible? None. Remember: First, do no harm…
I do. http://childhealthsafety.wordpress.com/graphs/
Here’s an article reporting that 26 healthy babies were killed by the measles vaccine in India over a 3 year period:
http://blogs.timesofindia.indiatimes.com/staying-alive/entry/26-measles-vaccine-deaths-in-3-years-no-investigative-report-yet1
I’m glad that I am considered selfish. My four kids are healthier because of it. In our world where governments are run by big biz, being selfish is the way to go. I definitely cannot rely on what the pharm industry would have me to believe.
I have had 3 children and all of them have been vaccinated because it’s “what everybody expects” and we are led to believe that if we don’t do it, our kids will die. We get told the story of two 7 year old boys who moved into an old house, previously lived in with the furniture still there. The parents didn’t know it, but kids who used to live there had a disease and so these two boys found the books, handled the books and caught that disease what had lay dormant for years and because they were not vaccinated, they died.
So yeah, my oldest has Autism and nobody in our family has it. No blood test could prove it was genetic. So then our daughter came along, had her shots, wham! Autism.
We now have a little boy of 2 who hasn’t shown any signs yet, he has also had his shots. We are not bad parents, misinformed perhaps, but vaccinating doesn’t us evil neither does not vaccinating. It is like abortion, where they tell you it is a simple and safe procedure and yet people die from it, regret it later and depression sets in and not to mention a baby is ripped limb from limb for no good reason other than selfish people who care only for themselves.
