If you’ve been reading my blog for a while, you know that one of my favorite real food blogger friends is Kelly the Kitchen Kop. Kelly and I started blogging around the same time almost three years ago.
Kelly and I have shared so much over the years as friends. Although she is in Michigan, we email and talk on the phone a lot, and she has come out to visit me a couple of times here in LA. I even got her to eat raw oysters and sushi (which she swore she would NEVER eat and now she loves it)! Check out this picture of us reading the Weston A. Price Foundation quarterly newsletter on the beach (I know, what nerds!):

Discovering Real Food
It was really hard for me when I became a new mother in 2007 and discovered real food. When I was just starting out, I felt all alone and didn’t know who to call to ask for advice — like what kind of butter to buy, how to buy a chest freezer to store half a cow, how many cod liver oil capsules to take and did I really need to take the butter oil, too?
I have very few mom friends, and the ones I did know didn’t seem to share my obsession with feeding our children nutritious meals. While the other moms at playdates were feeding their babies Cheerios and other processed snacks, I was giving Baby Kate liverwurst and raw milk formula. I’d rush home to make a home-cooked meal of roast chicken or pot roast, while the other moms lingered at the park and ordered pizza for dinner.
It was such a relief to have a friend like Kelly. Even though she’s thousands of miles away, she’s always so supportive and caring — and she’s just as obsessive as I am about feeding our kids healthy. She has been eating this way a LOT longer than I have — and she has helped me so much.
Real Food for Rookies
Now it’s your chance to have Kelly as your friend and mentor.
Kelly’s launching her first online class, Real Food for Rookies. If you’re new to real food, or if you’ve been eating this way for a while and need some inspiration, this is your chance to win a 12-week multimedia online class that will teach you everything you need to know to get started on the road to eating real food.
Watch the video:
You’ll Save Time
If only this class had existed three years ago when I found real food. Instead of spending countless hours on the computer searching on Google for answers to my questions, I could have just taken the short cut and learned from Kelly!
Kelly’s online class gives you 24/7 access to a private online forum — so you can get all our questions answered. If you have a question about making chicken broth at midnight, ask away!
You’ll Save Money
Not only will you save time, but you’ll also save money. Do you know how many loaves of bread I made that were inedible? I was also wasting a lot of money shopping at the health food store, when I could have been saving by buying direct from farmers.
Kelly’s also offering, as part of the class, over $60 in coupons for grass-fed meat, cod liver oil, and more from our Real Food Media sponsors. Just by using the coupons, you’ll recoup over half the price of the class!

Just emailed seven girlfriends about the giveaway and the course. I said:
Hi you all,
I’m on a new path to health via traditional foods. Cheeseslave is the blogger that introduced it to me — I found her when I was looking for information on thyroid dysfunction when my hair was falling out. She recommended Iodoral. I don’t know if it was the reason why, but three days after starting Iodoral, my hair stopped falling out. I can’t tell you what that did for me (although Lisa may know!!!)
So I’ve entered a giveaway for a free course in “Real Foods for Rookies” and you all are invited to sign up, too. If you go right now, you can enter to win a free course. But even if you pay (and I don’t get a kickback), it’s only $120 and you’ll get $60 in coupons. Don’t know how worthy those coupons will be in Costa Rica but then raw milk is easy to come by there…
Check it out, maybe I’ll see you in class, lol!
Pura vida, chicas!

In June I began making changes towards this whole food, real food lifestyle. When I have a question I go search the real food blogs. I still find that there is so much I don’t know and steps I’ve probably skipped. I would just like to hear all Kelly has to say, not one thing in particular. Thank you for all the good information on your site.
Looks like an amazing class! I’m very interested in helping all of my family transition to healthier food choices. I saw Sally Fallon speak in April and she talked about how supermarket bread is so bad for you. I have 4 boys and would love to be able to make healthier bread 6 loaves at a time.
I like you on FB
I subscribe to your email updates.
I want to learn about quick healthy meals for during the week. Also I want to get re-inspired about eating real. Please enter me in the drawing.
I also ‘like’ you on facebook – what’s not to like? and what a great name – cheeseslave! Love it!
I’ve purchased and read Nourishing Traditions and made some changes, yet I feel like I need more direction. I would like to learn more about superfoods and make changes the family diet in regards to sweeteners and meat.
I’ve added your blog to my Google Reader.
.-= Kristen M.´s last blog ..Baby McLane- 11 & 14 Weeks =-.
I’ve read the Nourishing traditions and I think it has so much excellent and very important information. My problem has been how to start implementing all those things into my diet. It feels overwhelming and complicated. I was looking at the class schedule and it seemed pretty down to earth, so I’m excited for the chance to win!
