This year we attended our first Free to Be Unschooling Conference September 29-October 2, 2016. We had a total blast! I wanted to share some of our photos and videos.
We started homeschooling a year ago. At first, we tried to do homeschooling like regular school. Using a curriculum, workbooks, math exercises, spelling practice, etc. My 9-year-old, Kate hated it. I was scared to try unschooling at first, but the more Kate rejected learning, the more I realized I couldn’t push a rope. So we embraced unschooling and haven’t looked back.
Looking for a California homeschool conference? The week before last, we went to the Homeschool Association of California 2016 Conference. We go every summer and we love it. I think this was our fourth time to attend. If you’re a homeschooling family in California, you should consider attending next year.
Last week, we went on our first homeschool camping trip. It was the longest camping trip I’ve ever been on (well, at least, the longest one I’ve been in charge of packing and cooking for).
Five nights in the desert. Yes, I had to cook with a camp stove for 5 nights! I was nervous but it turned out OK.
After the first night, that is. The first night was hell.
