everyone is going green

Are you excited to get your spring garden started? The weather is warming up here in Los Angeles and I can’t wait to get digging! Four-year-old Kate said to me this morning, “Mama, I want to “do” gardening!”

Real Food Media has teamed up with organic seed company Seeds of Change and we’re going to be blogging about organic gardening from now through the fall. Our Real Food Media bloggers will be growing organic gardens and blogging about it — and we want you to join us!

Join Us for an Earth Day Tweetchat with Seeds of Change

This Friday is Earth Day and we want to kick off the gardening season with you!

Join us for an organic gardening “tweetchat” on Twitter brought to you by Seeds of Change and Real Food Media!

Date: This Friday, 4/22/11
Time: 11am-12pm Pacific / 2pm-3pm Eastern
Place: http://tweetchat.com/room/sowingmillions

And did I mention there will be PRIZES?! (See below…)

What’s a TweetChat?

Jenny of Nourished Kitchen, Cara from Health, Home & Happiness, and Kimberly from Hartke is Online! and I will be online on Twitter, tweeting about our plans for our organic gardens this spring.

Come hang out with us online and chat about your plans for your garden. We’ll talk about our gardens, the real food we’re growing, and share recipes!

Are you brand new to organic gardening and have questions? Come to the tweetchat and get your questions answered!

Enter to Win Prizes and Get Free Shipping on Seeds

By participating in Friday’s Tweetchat, you will automatically be entered to win 1 of 5 Seeds of Change gift baskets!

Note: You must (1) include #sowingmillions hashtag in your tweet and (2) Follow @SeedsofChange on Twitter.

The more times you tweet, the more chances you have to win. And participating in a tweetchat is a great way to generate LOTS of entries — since you use that hashtag over and over. (Note: Winners will be chosen randomly from all eligible tweets and will be sent a DM from @SeedsofChange if picked.)

Also, during the tweetchat, we’ll be giving away a coupon for free ground shipping on all seed orders over $30 through May 31 from http://www.seedsofchange.com.

How to Join Friday’s TweetChat

1. You must have a Twitter account. Of course you can follow the tweetchat without logging in — just follow Twitter hashtag: #sowingmillions. But you can’t win prizes if you don’t tweet!

If you don’t have a Twitter account, go get one now — it’s free! Just sign up here: http://www.twitter.com

2. Once you’re logged into Twitter, go to http://tweetchat.com/room/sowingmillions just before 11 am Pacific (2 pm Eastern) on Friday 4/22/11. Or go to http://tweetchat.com and type in sowingmillions.

3. You will now see tweets with the hashtag #sowingmillions.

4. Simply click the login button at the top of the Tweetchat page http://tweetchat.com/room/sowingmillions and Tweetchat will automatically connect with your Twitter account and you can start tweeting!

5. Don’t forget to follow @SeedsofChange on Twitter to be eligible to win the free prizes!

I can’t wait to see you all on Friday at 11am Pacific. I’ll be there with bells on, with a glass of herbal iced tea with some fresh organic mint from my garden.

PS: We’ll be holding a tweetchat every month through the fall, so if you can’t make it this Friday, be sure to join us next month.

Speaking of seeds, did I hear correctly that Monsanto did a hostile takeover of Seed Savers Exchange?! Ostensibly with plans to either genetically modify and patent or destroy the seeds?
