This just in from California Right to Know / Yes on 37:
Support for the GMO labeling proposal has plummeted to 48.3 percent from 66.9 percent two weeks ago, according to an online survey of likely California voters conducted by the California Business Roundtable and Pepperdine University’s School of Public Policy.
At the same time, the proportion of respondents likely to vote “no” on the measure – known as Proposition 37 – jumped to 40.2 percent from 22.3 percent two weeks ago, according to the survey results released on Thursday.
“Clearly the ‘No’ side has more money and the advertising is having an effect,” Michael Shires, a Pepperdine professor who oversees the survey cited above, told Reuters.
Funding for the effort to defeat the “Right to Know” ballot initiative is led by chemical giants Monsanto and DuPont, whose businesses also are the world’s top sellers of genetically modified seeds.
Monsanto has contributed just over $7 million to fight the proposal, while DuPont has kicked in about $5 million. In all, the “No on 37″ camp has raised a total of $34.6 million, according to filings with the California Secretary of State.
“Yes on 37″ supporters – led by the Organic Consumers Association and Joseph Mercola, a natural health information provider – have donated just $5.5 million.
Depressing, huh? It’s so sad to me that companies like Monstanto and Dupont are throwing millions of dollars at this campaign and are using it to deceive people.

Get GMOs Labeled This November
The truth is, people WANT GMOs LABELED. We want to know what’s in our food!
This is an unprecedented opportunity. GM crops are the NUMBER ONE danger to our environment.
Friends, we CAN make a difference and get Prop 37 passed next month in California, but it’s going to take a lot of money and a lot of effort.

No, no, no!!! This makes me crazy!
My husband hasn’t worked in 4 years and things are beyond tight, but a few weeks ago I donated $15 and I was still able to put food on the table. I’m going to give another $10 right now! This has to pass! It just has to!
This really makes me angry and sad. For a long time I have wondered just what damage our food industry is doing to people. I have seen first hand a rapid decline in intelligence in a school in just 9 years. We really have to seriously consider if the food does affect thinking to such a degree that people would believe ads paid for by a company that makes a lot of money off of harming people. I would love to know if the executives of monsanto eat non organic food. Bet not!!! I live in Indiana and I want this to pass. Not rich either but gave a donation.
@Susan & Jenny
Me, too.
I’m grateful for people like you guys who care and who don’t believe everything they see on TV.
