I’ve had melasma for a few years now. A lot of women get it when they are pregnant but I actually started seeing it on my face in 2004.
From what I’ve been reading (and listening to a lecture by Dr. James Wilson), melasma is caused by adrenal fatigue.
I swear it’s starting to lighten. Ever so slightly. I think giving up coffee and taking the adrenal gland is helping!

I’ve read a little bit about this and believe it’s true, but oh … to live without coffee!

Please… give an update on your melasma! I would like to know how long it took for your melasma to clear/lighten up and whether or not you still take maca. Thanks!
My melasma makes me very self conscious about my appearance. It seems as though whenever I manage to put it on the back burner for a while, I see a recent photo of myself and I cringe at the sight of the dark patches on my face. I’m intrigued by the idea of melasma relating to adrenal exhaustion. I gave up coffee and about 95% of my caffeine intake several months ago. I’ve been taking MSM and herbal support for my adrenal glands. My nutrition is good, almost no sugar, very few grains, conscious effort to consume more butter, coconut oil, etc… My melasma, however, is worse than ever. Ann Marie, I’m just wondering if your melasma is gone and what exactly you attribute that to. Thanks.

I think adrenal fatigue is going to become a more mainstream idea in the near future as it seems to be the root of a lot of conditions.
I need to research more about adrenal fatigue…..
