Real Food Meal Plans for the Busy Home

I am so excited about my friend Emily Bartlett’s (of Holistic Squid) brand new meal plan subscription program, Real Food Meal Plans for the Busy Home.

Why am I so excited you ask? Because I tried to put out a meal plan program myself (twice), and I could not keep up with it — I was too busy running the VGN Network. Both times I had to cancel it and give my readers refunds.

Now I can finally recommend a meal plan program that is VERY similar to the way I cook. Emily makes the kind of meals I do — home cooking, comfort foods, lots of cheese and cream and good fats.

Think grass-fed chili with cheese and sour cream and sprouted cornbread, fully loaded nachos made with sprouted corn tortillas, roast chicken, mashed potatoes and gravy. Oh, yes, these are weeknight meals you can make fast and easy!

Nutrient-Dense Meals Are a Snap

These meals are family-friendly, kid-tested and approved. I can personally vouch for the fact that Emily’s recipes are delicious (I’ve eaten at Emily’s house many times). Best of all, they are super nutritious.

Real Food Meal Plans for Busy People

As a member of the Weston A. Price Foundation, holistic practitioner, and mother of 2 littles, Emily follows the WAPF characteristics of traditional diets. So I trust her to put together meal plans that are nutrient-dense and nutritionally balanced.

She incorporates pastured meats, sustainable seafood, organ meats, healthy traditional fats like butter and coconut oil, fermented foods, bone broth, lots of in-season vegetables, and soaked/sprouted whole grains.

Fast and Easy Cooking for Busy Homes

As a working mom, Emily knows how hard it is to get food on the table — so she’s devised this meal plan for those of us who are busy like she is. She tells you exactly how many hours you will spend in the kitchen each week.

For example, in the free sample menu she has one shopping day (Saturday), one big prep day (Sunday), and then the rest of the week you spend less than one hour per day in the kitchen — for a total of 1.8 hours Monday-Friday.

In the first meal plan I downloaded, Emily says you will only spend 3.5 hours TOTAL in the kitchen for the week. Whee! I CAN DO that!

A couple of the meals only take 10 minutes to throw together — that’s faster than Rachael Ray!

Why I Signed Up

I love Real Food Meal Plans for the Busy Home so much that I went ahead and signed up for the yearly plan.

Honestly, I’m the last person who needs a meal plan, since I have tons of recipes on my blog and of course I can cook and have lots of ideas.

But lately things have changed in our life. Our start-up is super busy. We have a staff of 10 people and I’m working really long days. I don’t have the time to cook and we’ve been eating a lot of take-out. Last night it was pizza; the day before it was Thai food. FAIL! :-(

So I decided to take the plunge and get the meal plans. I just printed the sample menu on our printer and gave it to our nanny this morning to get her started.

I am so thrilled that my family will be eating nutrient-dense meals again!

Why It Makes Financial Sense to Buy Meal Plans

I did the math. For a year subscription, this meal plan program only cost me $6 a month. ($72 for the annual plan divided by 12 = $6 per month.)

Say it takes me a couple hours each week to do the planning, shopping-list making, and recipe gathering. Let’s say I work really fast and can bust it out in ONE hour per week.

Now, ask yourself, what is your time worth? Is it worth more than $1.50 per hour?

$6 divided by 4 weeks = $1.50 per week.

You can see why this is worth every penny.

I once asked Emily on her blog if she ever takes a bad picture. She told me of course she does, but there is just something about her: She makes me smile!!

Wow! This looks awesome. Really, I’ve never had trouble meal planning and haven’t ever considered buying pre-made plans, but the way she has this put together for “busy families” is amazing. It really would take a load off of my plate to have the meal plan all worked out including what I have to do each day, which I sometimes found was lacking from other plans. I also like the fact that she included so many meals. I never saw the point of buying meal plans that were for 3 meals a week! We don’t eat out 4 days a week, so what were we supposed to do those other days? The yearly rate is super affordable. Definitely going to try the sample and consider buying!

Hi Julie – My guess is that you probably added 2 to the cart. $72 X 2 with 20% off is $115.20. Have a look and email me directly [emily at holisticsquid dot com] if you still have a problem. Thanks!
