Real Food Recipes for the Holidays: Christmas, Hanukkah & New Year’s Eve

by Ann Marie Michaels on December 9, 2012

Are you afraid that this holiday season you will be deluged with unhealthy food? Christmas cookies made with hydrogenated industrial oils, food coloring and high fructose corn syrup, factory farm turkeys and ham… oh, I could go on.

But I won’t. Because it doesn’t have to be that way. You can enjoy Christmas, Hanukkah & New Year’s Eve eating delicious, nutrient-dense foods from sustainable farms and artisan food producers.

Here are some links to some of my favorite real food holiday recipes available online. I have indicated which recipes are legal on GAPS/SCD/Paleo.

Just an fyi=just finished the gingerbread men cookies–major flop. Kids were so disappointed. It is EXTREMELY gooey dough, even after adding huge amounts of extra flour. We actually salvaged a few good “men” but mostly just balls of gingerbread. It tastes good, though.

Monique- I know that The Food Lovers Kitchen has just updated their grain-free gingerbread cookie recipe, so that may be helpful for you. I ate them and they were delicious. http://beta.primal-palate.com/blog/gingerbread-cookies-revisited-and-the-real-deal-vanilla-buttercream-frosting/
