Welcome to Real Food Wednesday!
Head over to Kelly the Kitchen Kop where she asks the question, Are Raw Eggs Safe to Eat?
My post this week is a guest blog post from Cara at the Health, Home & Happiness blog. In her post, How the GAPS Diet Is Helping Our Family, she shares her experience of doing the GAPS Diet and how well it is working (and not as hard as she thought).
Don’t forget — Kelly is hosting Real Food Wednesday next week!

This week the whole family was downed by a nasty stomach bug and it got me thinking about food based remedies – what do people eat when they’re sick, after they’ve been sick or to keep from getting sick? Included is a recipe for chicken noodle soup.
Happy Wednesday!

This week I tried making my own sourdough tortillas.

sourdough tortillas! What a cool idea!
The healthier my gut is the less I want to fill it with processed, sugary foods. Instead of dieting and weight loss surgery, how about these docs prescribe probiotics? Or maybe we can just figure it out for ourselves

Today’s post is a recipe for a great red lentil soup we make. It’s soup time here!

While digging through youtube, I found a great video of Dr. Oz, Gary Taubes, Jillian Michaels and a few others discussing weight loss strategies on Larry King Live. I always wondered what would happen if Dr. Oz and Taubes were put in the same room. Now I know!
I was tempted to include my post from yesterday instead (The Makings of a Cellulite Analyst) because it was inspired by our infamous Kelly the KK. But it’s not as Real Food oriented so I went with this one instead. But thanks for the inspiration, Kelly! You’ll know what I mean if you take one look at the image

Something very different this week. A much beloved author has passed away. Although he wrote detective novels, he was a big influence in my desire to eat real food. His novels are interspersed with delicious meals and discussions about them. Today’s post is a tribute to him.
The lack of sunshine is getting to me! So I made my own little tropical vacation – steamed coconut lime custards. Hopefully the boost of vitamin D will chase away the winter blahs.
I just got my new food blog started!
Its still very simple, and I am sticking with blogger, cause I know how to use it, LOL!
Check it out!
Today I start a series for beginner and intermediate gardeners on growing our own food. Step 1. Order Those Catalogs
I started school this week so I am late getting my link in….it’s neat to see what’s been shared so far. I have a simple, protein packed breakfast pancake that will keep you going all morning long. Of couse I’m using my free-range, organic eggs. Totally wish we had chickens but the HOA where we live would throw a fit.
You wouldn’t be wrong to describe this as just some good old roasted chicken, but that would partly miss the point.
This is chicken that spent it’s entire life outdoors on grass, breathing fresh air and pecking at bugs and dirt. These birds were processed on the same farm that raised them, just about an hour’s drive from here. Jane and Terry want nothing to do with chemicals or cages, and their healthy, happy birds are evidence of that stewardship.
This is God’s food, delicious, nourishing and sustaining. And that is the larger point..
This week I shared my thoughts about the importance of recognizing that every time we go through the checkout line in a store, we’re sending a message to the management about the products we want to see. The grass roots level is where the change is going to happen, and if each of us makes choices in line with his/her ability and beliefs, we can create changes in the food that big industry produces, something that’s already beginning to happen!
And the best part is we hardly have to do anything different, except recognize we’re making choices and be sure we’re sending the message with our purchases that we want to send.
Where’s the link for Jan 27th Real Food Wednesday? I’m having a hard time finding it.
