I posted a recipe for BBQ Natto and Shrimp. I was thrilled to find that my family absolutely loves natto, which is a Japanese fermented soybean dish that has the most vitamin K2 of any food.

The post I submitted today features last night’s Nightline piece on Joel Salatin and Steve Ells (the founder of Chipotle restaurants). A great little piece that painted farms like Joel’s in a positive light.

Hey Kristen, I saw that piece on Nightline last night and was excited to see coverage of important topics like farming real food. I have eaten at Chipotle’s a few times when in desperation for something that is real when we have been out and needed something quick, and was delighted to find out the meat is naturally raised on pasture.

Speaking of Texas, vitamin K2 and real food, I’ve made breakfast burritos with pastured eggs and butter, fresh garden vegetables and local, organic paprika/cayenne tortillas.

I posted a pie crust recipe from my collection of old-time family recipes. My great grandma’s unique prize winning recipe uses real lard and hot water to make an easy no-fail pie crust. I also added my own ideas to make it more healthy.

So I just found out about Codex and their plans about controlling food around the world. Our vitamins can become as illegal as heroin. Our organic meat will be injected with growth hormones and antibiotics. All our produce will become irradiated.

Hi, Anne Marie and real food bloggers! I am late today as I’ve been out to the orthodontist with my daughter. But finally, I’ve managed to post (from the library) about an easy, real food meal we have at least once a week. It really helps when I’m hot, tired, or too busy — wild salmon salad, bread and cheese (and a salad of course.) Thanks for another great week!

Preparing to render 200 pounds of tallow is lots of work!
We were given all of it last week, as a family we know already had put up all they would need for the year.

I agree with the nutritionist. My son is 5 months old and has not gotten anything but breast milk. Breast milk/Formula has a greater calorie content and nutrional value than table food.
There are really great diabetic books. And since diabetic diets are very similiar to low carb or gluten free diets there are many to choose from. Try the Betty Crocker Diabetes book or the Mr. Food’s Quick and Easy diabetic cooking book.
I read somewhere that a lot of dog food isn’t good for dogs because they are made from meat deemed inedible for humans and stuff like that. I heard that feeding your dog real food like chicken and apples and veggies and oatmeal and stuff like that is better for the health of your dog.
tomatoes are really great for gardening. they are the best garden vegetables out there *.;
natto is something I’m really hoping to get a chance to try soon. Do you have a good source for it?
