I am pretty proud of my garden so far this year. Kate and I planted a bunch of stuff back in January: lettuce, thyme, mint, dandelion, shallots, garlic, onion, peas, dill, and fennel. I had a number of things still growing from last year: potatoes, rosemary, oregano, sage, lemon balm, strawberries, Meyer lemons, limes, blood oranges, and sorrel.

Here are some photos I took last weekend when Kate and I were gardening. We’ve been having gorgeous weather — in the 70s and 80s all week. We planted lettuce, thyme, mint, dandelion, shallots, garlic, onion, peas, dill, and fennel.
I love growing all these herbs and lettuce in the backyard. It is so great [...]

Well, it’s only been a few days and I’m thrilled to announce that 70-80% of my symptoms are gone. I’m on the road to recovery from the superbug, thanks to my inlaws’ accupuncturist here on Long Island and the Chinese herbs, homeopathic drops, and peppermint oil he gave me.
I am still sniffling a bit but [...]

Sometimes people ask me what supplements we take. I’m a firm believer in getting nutrition from food. However, we don’t always eat perfectly and we are still recovering from years of eating SAD (Standard American Diet).
Also, Kate’s a growing girl and I’m planning to get pregnant again soon (in the next year I think). [...]

I’ve written about maca before but I just can’t say enough about it. I already wrote about what it’s done for my PMS symptoms (eradicated them!).
I reported a while back that my temperature has been chronically low. Since April, I’ve been taking Iodoral and adrenal gland to help my thyroid and adrenal glands.
I started [...]

As I’ve mentioned on this blog before, I suffer from adrenal exhaustion. I’m sure it was caused by the high-stress work I used to do in advertising, compounded by my coffee addiction (which I’ve now kicked — thanks, Dandy Blend!).
Anyhow, about a month or so ago, I started on a supplement called maca.
Maca is a [...]

I joined the Growing Challenge a while ago. As part of the Growing Challenge, I’m supposed to increase the number of fruits or vegetables I am growing (from last year), and I’m supposed to grow them from seed.
I did that. However, I’m also supposed to post about gardening once a week. I have not kept [...]

I’m excited! I just got a package in the mail from Mountain Rose Herbs.
My first non-Monsanto seeds! The seeds are from Horizon Herbs, which are certified non-GMO.
YAY!
This is the first time ever I have bought seeds that are certified non-GMO. Of course, this was not an issue ten years ago. But it is an issue [...]
