I used to be addicted to Diet Coke. But not anymore. Ever since I learned how to make kombucha, those days are over.
What’s kombucha? It’s a naturally carbonated, sweet and tangy drink. It’s essentially a mildly fermented, fizzy sweet tea. It is not alcoholic, though, and has very little caffeine. Since it’s naturally fermented, it’s a living food with active cultures. Good for the gut!

Are you plagued by bad digestion? Do you have chronic constipation, hemorrhoids, diarrhea? Do you have acne or other skin issues? Do you have heartburn or gas?
I’ve had my own personal journey of recovery in this arena. I’m amazed at how much better I feel now that I eat fermented foods, soak my grains, and eat lots of raw dairy products. It’s not hard to overcome digestive issues, but it can take time. I think I’m as healthy as I am today because I took the time to work on my digestion.

For years, I drank 2% milk. Just regular old milk from the supermarket. Then I switched to organic 2% milk. wanted to avoid bovine growth hormones and pesticides and genetically modified organisms (GMOs). When I got pregnant, I switched to organic whole milk. I figured I needed the extra fat for my growing baby.
After Baby [...]

I took no Biokult today and ate no fermented foods — and voila! My congestion has totally cleared up. I am so relieved! It feels so good to not be sneezing and stuffed up.
So, rule number one for the GAPS diet: Go slow with the probiotics and fermented foods! They say it over and over [...]

I think I figured out what is wrong with me. I think I’ve been taking too much Biokult.
It was a total DUH moment this afternoon. Totally obvious — why didn’t I think of this before!
I was fine with 2 Biokult, so I figured I’d do just as well on 4.
So I’m skipping the Biokult [...]

I am having a very bad die-off reaction today. I am sneezing like crazy, totally congested, and I have post-nasal drip. At first I was afraid that these symptoms were caused by the smoothie I had at lunch. It was not very sweet but it did have fruit in it.
I have been doing some [...]

I had an interesting realization today. I took my cod liver oil and had an immediate reaction — excess mucus, sneezing, post nasal drip, itchy eyes, nose and throat.
I was like WTF? Why am I reacting to cod liver oil? Then I looked at the label and realized that it’s fermented cod liver oil. Hello! [...]
