A friend of mine emailed last week and said she had some extra lobster bodies for stock — she didn’t have room in her freezer. I was thrilled to get them. Lobster stock is delicious, especially in seafood risotto or pasta dishes. You can also use it in seafood stews or soups, like cioppino.
This stock [...]

Everybody’s eating soy these days. Soy is a not good for you for many reasons. One of the biggest reasons is that soy depresses thyroid function.

Here’s a video excerpt of Dr. Janet Lang’s fascinating lecture about iodine and thyroid health at the WAPF Wise Traditions 2008 conference in San Francisco. I’ll be sharing more videos from the conference every day this week.
You can buy the videos, CDs or mp3 recordings from the Weston A. Price Foundation website. The complete conference [...]

At the WAPF Wise Traditions conference this year, they had a whole series of lectures on iodine deficiency. Contrary to popular belief, iodine deficiency is widespread in America. Iodine deficiency causes all sorts of health problems, including thyroid disease, cancer, and Down’s Syndrome.
Why are so many people iodine deficient? First of all, most of us [...]

I’ve written about maca before but I just can’t say enough about it. I already wrote about what it’s done for my PMS symptoms (eradicated them!).
I reported a while back that my temperature has been chronically low. Since April, I’ve been taking Iodoral and adrenal gland to help my thyroid and adrenal glands.
I started [...]

I’ve got exciting news.
I weighed myself this morning and guess what – I’ve lost a total of 9 pounds. I’m down to 145 now. This is a new low. Still 15-20 pounds over my pre-pregnancy weight, but still! I’m happy! I had been stuck at 149 for months. I’ve lost 4 pounds just in the [...]

If you’ve been reading this blog for a while, you know that Seth and I are both suffering from adrenal fatigue (and possibly low thyroid function as well). I started supplementing with 50 mg of Iodoral per day, as well as dessicated adrenal gland a couple of months ago. Seth started taking the supplements a [...]

We had our phone consultation to go over our test results with Dr. Flechas yesterday. He said that Seth and I are both iodine deficient and we should both take 50 mg of Iodoral per day — for a year. He said in one year, we’ll do the tests again and see where we are.
He [...]

I got my heavy metal urine analysis results back. I have very high levels of a number of metals, but I am highest in arsenic and uranium. So high, in fact, that it says I have reached the “tentative maximum permissible limit”.
Both arsenic and uranium are not only highly toxic and carcinogenic, but they are [...]

Tonight we ate:
Rocky Canyon Bratwurst with Dijon Mustard
Homemade Lacto-Fermented Sauerkraut
Kale Sauteed in Chicken Fat and Butter
Chicken Broth
For lunch Seth had some sliced turkey breast and avocado. He was still hungry after that (not enough fat, I told him), so I offered to make him a smoothie.
The man who said he hated coconut oil willingly and [...]
