Paula of Guadalajara, Mexico: A Testament to Dr. Weston Price

We just got back from our Christmas trip to visit family in Texas. I had the most interesting talk with the woman sitting next to me on the plane. I feel compelled to share it with you all.
I love talking to immigrants from so-called “developing countries”. I can spend hours talking with them. Why? Because I want to know how they did things in their country, how they ate, how they cooked, what their family’s health was like.
Sickened by Soy, Illinois Prisoners Sue State

Last Thursday Real Food Media bloggers attended the soy prison press conference in Chicago. According to a press release issued by the Weston A. Price Foundation:
Citing serious health conditions due to high levels of soy, inmates in the Illinois prison system are suing for a permanent injunction against the substitution of soy for meat in prison meals.
Weston A. Price Foundation Conference 2009: Quick Update

Today’s the last day of the Weston A. Price Foundation 2009 Conference. It has been AWESOME! I’ve met so many wonderful people — farmers and foodies and activist heroes and geniuses. It’s also a very traditional food that has been around for thousands of years (can you say Egyptians?).
Homemade Kansas City BBQ Sauce

BBQ sauce is kind of like bacon. Everything tastes better when you add it. But have you looked at the ingredients on a bottle of storebought BBQ sauce lately? High fructose corn syrup is usually the first or second ingredient listed.
Turns out it’s really easy to make barbecue sauce at home. It only takes a few minutes to whip up a batch. You can use it for all kinds of things — from BBQ ribs, BBQ shrimp or sausage, pulled pork sandwiches to BBQ chicken pizza.
Organize Locavores and Support Small Farms with Meetup.com

Many farm fresh foodies and locavores have experienced the frustration of trying to encourage our families and friends to support local farms. A few cotton to the idea, but many do not. Rather than alienating my close friends and relations by becoming a noodge, I decided to focus on delivering the good news of a healthier way to eat on folks I hadn’t yet met.
Listen Online: Two Interviews with Sally Fallon Morell

I love podcasts! I like to listen on my computer while I’m working — or download them onto my iPod and listen while I’m driving or cooking or working out at the gym.
I also love Sally Fallon Morell. Author of Nourishing Traditions and Eat Fat, Lose Fat: The Healthy Alternative to Trans Fats (co-authored [...]
