Thanksgiving Giveaway: Enter to Win the BEST Eco-Friendly Mop Ever! $108 Retail Value

This giveaway is now closed.

Happy Thanksgiving, everyone! I hope you’re all enjoying your leftover turkey and stuffing.

I didn’t cook this year. We just got back from Tom Colicchio’s (of Top Chef fame) Craft, (winner of the James Beard Award for Best New Restaurant nationwide in 2002). It was perfect. Loved the decor, loved the food, loved the conversation. And Kate was a perfect angel (despite this funny photo). But most of all, I loved not having to cook.

Tomorrow I’m continuing the theme. Not planning on doing anything. Of course, I never go shopping on Black Friday anyway. I’m not a big fan of shopping and I really hate crowds! I’d much rather stay home and read a book or take a walk.

If you’re like me, and you’d rather stay home than fight the crowds, you don’t have to feel like you’re missing out on the all the savings. Because I’m hosting another awesome giveaway.

I’m super excited about this one in particular. I’m giving away the best mop EVER!

The Norwex Microfiber Mop

Marilyn Moll from The Urban Homemaker offered to let me try out one of the Norwex microfiber mops she sells on her website. I agreed to try it and I said if I liked it, I’d buy it.

Not that I really needed another mop. I had just bought a Haan steam mop, which I’ve been very happy with. I actually didn’t think I’d find a mop I liked better than the Haan.

I originally bought the Haan because I wanted a really good mop. Grocery store mops just don’t work very well. They wear out so fast and you end up spending a lot of money on them — for poor performance. Plus they don’t pick up dirt very well so you end up using lots of toxic chemicals.

I love the way the Swiffer mops work — they’re great at picking up dust. But then you spend a fortune on disposables. And NOT good for the environment.

Bottom line — I found I liked the Norwex better than the Haan. SO much better.

And so I bought it.

Here’s why. The Haan is great. It’s a steam mop so it kills bacteria and all. But it’s more of a deep cleaning mop that you use, you know, once a week or so. It’s not an everyday mop. It’s a pain to pull it out, plug it in, add water, wait for it to heat up, etc.

This Norwex microfiber mop is something you can easily whip out and use every day. You don’t have to plug it in or fill it with water. And it’s so lightweight. It has a pad for dry mopping and another for wet mopping. And I was amazed at how much dirt it picked up. Plus, you can use it with essential oils. (Not advisable with the Haan.) I was delighted at how just a few drops of essential oil on the Norwex mop made my whole house smell amazing.

Honestly, I think the Norwex does a better job than the Haan. Super lightweight, no cord to mess with, no electricity, AND I think it cleans better than the Haan. What more could you want? If only I had known about this Norwex mop before, I never would have bought the Haan.

Why the Norwex Microfiber Mop Cleans Better

Marilyn explained in an email why she thinks the Norwex microfiber mop cleans better than the Haan steam mop:

My guess is it is far superior in effectiveness than the steam mop. I can explain: The Norwex microfibers are 1/100 the diameter of a human hair, so they operate like a bionic sponge absorbing dirt and grime, with just water. It is a much deeper clean so doesn’t get so dirty so quick. Chemicals make the surface sticky and cotton mops spread the dirt and chemicals around and are just about impossible to rinse thoroughly, so the dirt spreads.

A bionic sponge! 1/100 the diameter of a human hair! Isn’t that cool? I thought so. Explains why it works so well.

Here’s a photo:

Isn’t it cute?

A Testimonial

Here’s a testimonial Marilyn sent me:

“Dear Marilyn, I have wanted a Norwex Enviro Mop ever since I received my first Enviro Cloth, but felt I couldn’t afford it. After washing my kitchen floor and bathroom floors for a month or two, the mop I had purchased at a large discount store (one of the ones with the individual strands in the head) was so dirty and frayed I felt like I needed a new one!

I washed it a few times in the washer but it got so ragged and was hard for the kids to squeeze all the water out of, that when they would mop the floors they would be wet with dirty water. I finally decided that I could keep on purchasing new heads for this mop every few months, or just bite the bullet and buy a Norwex one when you offered the sale.

I couldn’t be happier with my new mop! The kids can use it with ease (the handle adjusts really small so it’s easy for them as they are still little) and because I just wet the mop and sqeeze it out the floor doesn’t get too dirty. If the floor is really wet, I can EASILY tear the mop off the base (Velcro is such a GREAT invention) and rinse it off, with a touch of soap if it is really dirty and back on the base it goes and my floor doesn’t have dirty rinse water sloshed all over it!

I love that because it is microfiber I don’t need to use any soap and it is still getting the germs off. It is truly the EASIEST mop I have ever owned and I would definitely buy it again, even though the price seems high at the start. I know I won’t need to be buying a new mop head in a few months and my floors seem cleaner.

Oh, I almost forgot. My mop came with a dry mop attachment. I have finally been able to get those nasty cobwebs out of my faulted ceilings and clean the dust off the windows I can’t reach. We have a huge clock hanging in the living room which is impossible for me to take down to dust, but I can use the dry mop on that and it is great!. I can’t wait until I can save up some more in order to get another set of cloths for my walls and counters! The Norwex products I have are truly wonderful and have made cleaning easier and healthier! (no more toxic cleaners)

I would love for you to share my testimonial. Every word is true and I had been meaning to e-mail you and share this even before you asked for it! Everytime I use my mop, or watch my kids mop with ease, I remind myself how thanful I am that I looked beyond the price and purchased it.”

I’ve been thinking about investing in a steam cleaner, but as I’m American living in Europe the thought of dragging a heavey transformer through the house just to be able to mop the floors was unappealing! This, on the other hand, would be perfect! Especially since I have zero carpet in my house. That’s a lot of mopping.

This is great. I just hired a green cleaning service to get the house caught up – it was pretty bad. They use microfiber mops and my ceramic tile and vinyl floors looked wonderful when they were done.

What a special give away. I too don’t dare go out shopping the day after Thanksgiving. I hate crowds — in the store and out on the streets. I am already a subscriber and I sent this on to five friends. Thanks Anne Marie. Enjoy your time with your family, books, and going for a walk. I will enjoy two out of the three. I would have to bundle up today if I wanted to go for a walk.

Looks like you had a great Thanksgiving. We did pot luck at my mom’s, so minimal cooking for me.
