Welcome to CHEESESLAVE Q & A!
Every Sunday, I answer your questions. I’ll answer as many questions as I can each week. If I didn’t answer your question this week, please check back next week.
If you spend any time researching vaccines online, you’re bound to come across stories about vaccine injuries. I was stunned by the number of vaccine injuries I have found online, and felt the need to share them. It’s rare for doctors to warn parents about the risks of vaccines. People need to know that vaccines do have negative consequences, and they can be severe.
As I read these stories, watch these videos, and look at the photographs of these precious, innocent children, I’m saddened to the point of tears. And I am outraged. This should not be happening to our children.
My 4-year-old’s favorite expression lately is, “Oh, coconuts!” (Like “Oh, nuts!”) We eat a lot of coconut in this house. From coconut milk to coconut oil to coconut flour to shredded coconut. There are so many health benefits to eating coconut, I try to get it on the menu as often as possible.
I posted my recipe for making coconut milk the other day. When you make coconut milk, it’s easy to use the leftover pulp to make homemade coconut flour.
Kate and I were shopping at Whole Foods this afternoon and we came across some scented candles. I was looking at the ingredients. There were some that were soy candles scented with essential oils. The rest were “food-grade paraffin”.
I recently came across this post about how toxic candles are at the Nourishing Our Children blog. I always suspected that candles were bad for you, but I had no idea how bad.
Ever since we moved to Las Vegas, I’ve been lugging jugs of purified water home. I can’t live without filtered water. In addition to drinking it, I also use it for cooking. I only use filtered water to make chicken, beef and fish stock, kombucha, and herbal iced tea and herbal infusions We also use it to make coffee (decaf), and I even use it to boil or steam vegetables (I cook my rice in broth).
We live on the fourth flour, and carrying gallons and gallons of water up here has not been fun. I knew I needed to get a water filtration system, sooner rather than later.
Kidney specialist, Dr. Suzanne Humphries says vaccines have never been safe:
I have been studying vaccines for the last three years of my life when it came up in my professional life, and my current opinion about vaccinations is that they’ve never been safe. Never has there been a safe vaccine. Never will there be a safe vaccine, and it is not possible to have a safe vaccine.
Did you know you can make coconut milk from unsweetened coconut flakes? If you want to avoid the BPA in cans, you can make your own coconut milk at home.
If you are on the GAPS Diet, you need to avoid all additives in coconut milk. It is best to make your own at home. You’ll be surprised at how easy it is!
I don’t know anyone who doesn’t love salmon teriyaki. It’s a sweet and delicious Japanese favorite, and most kids will love it. This is a great main course to serve with brown rice and some baby bok choy or steamed spinach.
The problem with salmon teriyaki in a restaurant is that the sauce is sweetened with high-fructose corn syrup or sugar, and usually contains MSG. This recipe is made with honey instead of sugar and there is no added MSG.
If you’re trying to get pregnant or just balance your hormones, this maca fertility smoothie is the perfect way to start your day. This smoothie is rich in probiotics, healthy fats, and fat soluble activators. I’ve added maca powder, an herb that naturally promotes hormone balance and fertility.
If you’re afraid of saturated fat, don’t be! Sex hormones are made out of cholesterol. We need plenty of good fat in our diet for healthy hormone balance and increased fertility.
Many people say that solids should be delayed until after 6 or even 12 months because baby’s gut is not sealed, and eating solid food prior to one year can cause allergies. Research by the Committee of Nutrition and Allergy and Immunology found in 2008 that there is no concrete evidence that delaying solids after 6 months better prevents the development of food allergies.
In addition, babies need supplemental iron and zinc when they reach the age of 4-6 months. These nutrient needs can not be met by breast milk alone.
