I love Hawaii. It’s one of my favorite places in the whole world. If you’ve ever been there, you know how precious and beautiful it is.
If you care about Hawaii and the environment, you simply must watch this movie, Stop Monsanto from Poisoning Hawai’i. It’s truly shocking. But nothing’s really shocking when it comes to Monsanto, makers of Agent Orange, DDT, Roundup, Posilac (synthetic growth hormone fed to dairy cows), etc.
Yesterday morning my 5-year-old daughter, Kate and I headed downtown for a California Right to Know Yes on Prop 37 rally at LA City Hall. Since Kate is homeschooled, we can do stuff like this at a moment’s notice.
It turned out to be a very inspiring experience, and a great learning experience for homeschoolers.

Agent Orange, made by the Monsanto Corporation and Dow Chemical, was one of the herbicides and defoliants used by the U.S. military as part of its herbicidal warfare program during the Vietnam War from 1961 to 1971. Dioxin, the toxic compound in Agent Orange, has been shown to cause cancer, birth defects and organ dysfunction.
Unfortunately, when you spray toxic chemicals, it’s not something that goes away anytime soon. 40 years later, children in southeast Asia are still being born with birth defects from Agent Orange.
I started noticing cherry angiomas on my skin in the past few years. They look like small, bright red moles.
If you search online, most sites say that they are something that just happens to people as they become middle-aged. I started seeing them a few years ago. I’m 44 now, so OK, I guess that makes sense.
But still, I wondered… could it be a sign of something wrong with me?
This November, for the first time in America, California’s Proposition 37 will allow the people to vote on whether or not foods should be labeled as genetically modified.
Dr. Oz said that there are no long-term studies that have been done on the effects of GMO foods on humans, and therefore, he recommends that we avoid them. He said that if we want to be safe, we should go organic.
